Well, is she or isn’t she? It’s a clichéd analogy, but internet rumors really do spread like wildfire, and the one about New York (Tiffany Pollard) has been both running rampant and moving erratically.

Some have her knocked up by Tango from season 1 of I Love New York, some don’t specify who the father is, but do indicate he’s from season 1, but did the deed during season 2 (which would seem to implicate Real or Chance).

So what’s the story?

Well, Rich Juzwiak from VH1’s own Celebreality blog confirmed today that New York does not, in fact, have any bun in her oven.

But, he goes on to note, that’s not to say it’s beyond the pale to imagine a future populated by New York’s very own mini-me. During Celebreality’s ongoing Q&A with New York in the “Ask New York” series, one fan asked her what her next big goal will be after granting her final chain on I Love New York.

New York replied, “There’s something that’s going on with me right now and…uh, I’m almost ready for mommyhood. I’m really nervous and I can’t believe I just said that, but there’s something starting to tick in me. And you know, I’m only 25, I’ll be 26 in January, and I’m almost to that point where I can almost see myself being a mommy, like, real soon! So I think that’s next.”

Come to think of it, it was probably these words of New York’s own that spurred on the initial rumor, misinterpreted, most likely, by some hasty reader. But, again, it would appear that this desire for “mommyhood” has not yet been acted upon. (Is it just me or is there something almost violently wrong with someone like New York using such a cutesy-poo word like “mommyhood?) Her recent reports of quitting smoking most likely fanned the flames.

Two thoughts occur to me when reading that quote. For one, I am somehow stunned that she is only 25. I feel like she’s been around forever; I guess New York is somehow timeless.

For another, although I am sure her more rabid anti-fans will no doubt froth at the mouth at the idea of New York reproducing, but I would point out to them this one salient point. For all of New York’s more challenging personality tics, she’s still about a million times more likable than Sister Patterson on I Love New York. Maybe that dilution of the less-popular elements of that family will continue with the succeeding generations.
