Last week,
How I Met Your Mother featured a Barney-centric episode that, as expected, featured women, sex and those catch phrases he is most known for. Fans got to see a rare insecure Barney (
Neil Patrick Harris) as he encountered a woman, whom he lost his virginity to, who doesn't remember him. More laughs ensued as Barney went into a downward spiral of self-doubt with his horrible pickup lines, failed attempts to score, and awkward encounters with Victoria's Secret models.
Next week, however, the show shifts its focus back on Ted (
Josh Radnor) as he prepares to go out on a date in the episode “The Platinum Rule,” which is expected to air on December 10.

In the 11th episode of season 3, Ted asks his doctor on a date. But as the gang finds out about Ted's plans, they warn him that he is about to break a cardinal rule of dating. In an attempt to discourage him from going out with someone he regularly sees, his friends recall their own awful stories of bad experiences.
Like other episodes, “The Platinum Rule” will feature flashbacks, which illustrates the characters' toxic dating encounters. Flashbacks include Marshall (
Jason Segel) and Lily (
Alyson Hannigan) running into apartment neighbors Laura and Michael and going on double dates, Robin (
Cobie Smulders) reading the news with former hockey player now turned sports newscaster Curt "The Iron Man" Irons and hooking up with him later on, and Barney hooking up with a woman named Wendy.
Serving as guest on the said episode is
Kristen Schaal, who appears as Laura. Schaal is a comedic actress most famous for her role as Mel on the HBO series
Flight of the Conchords. Other featured actors include John Sloan, Hayes MacArthur, Robert Michael Morris, and Charlene Amoia.
Meanwhile, fans can catch “Arrivederci, Fiero,” an episode from the second season where Marshall reminisces about his adventures with his car as he waits for the mechanic's for word on his Fiero, tonight on
How I Met Your Mother at 8pm ET/PT on CBS.
