Former
Nip/Tuck actress
Jessalyn Gilsig is set to reprise her role as Claire Bennet's biological mother, Meredith Gordon, on the upcoming season of
Heroes. After missing entirely from the second season of the NBC science fictional drama, the Canadian actress returns for not one but five episodes, according to
TV Guide.
Gilsig first appeared on
Heroes as part of the episode “The Fix,” in which she exhibits pyrokinetic abilities. In a back story, it was revealed that Meredith and her 18-month-old baby were reported to have died in a fire. Mr. Bennet (
Jack Coleman) came to retrieve baby Claire (
Hayden Panettiere) and adopted her later, while Meredith, who started the fire in the first place, moved to Mexico for some time before relocating to Kermit, Texas.

Heroes was on a roll....bragged about, talked about....shown on NBC....then silence ....what happenned....?...
After Claire met Meredith for the first time since she was a baby in the episode “Distractions,” Meredith contacted Claire's biological father, Nathan Petrelli (
Adrian Pasdar), to notify him of their daughter's survival. Aware that the scandal could ruin his political future, Nathan offered Meredith $100,000 for her silence. She offered to introduce Nathan to Claire though he refused, not knowing that a crushed Claire was eavesdropping.
At this point, it seems that Meredith has been mainly interested in Claire as a way of getting money out of Nathan. No word yet on what's in store for Meredith's 5-episode story arc, but fans will soon find out when
Heroes returns on September 22 with a one-hour clip show at 8pm, followed by the two-hour season 3 premiere at 9pm on NBC.
Meanwhile, Gilsig isn't the only recurring cast member that is set to appear on the new season of
Heroes.
Dania Ramirez, who plays Maya Herrera, will also be back.
"Let's just say Maya's been through a lot and she's ready for some changes. I think there's a lot of sexy stuff happening in
Heroes this season…It's gonna be really unpredictable, you're not gonna be bored at all,” she told eonline.com.
Which character would you like to see on back on Heroes?
