Once upon a time, I think I cared whether or not T.R.Knight stayed or left Grey’s Anatomy.  Once upon a time, George O’Malley was my favorite character on the show.  That was before he ran off to marry Callie, a person with whom he had no sexual chemistry.  Before he started up a random relationship with Izzie, which ruined his relationships with both her and Callie.  Before he whined all the time about how he couldn’t pass his intern exam and before he completely ignored Lexie, who seems to be his only friend these days.  What happened to George and who is he?  I don’t even think the writers know, which is probably why T.R. is itching to get outta there and why many people aren’t exactly crying about it.

Here’s why I can’t cry about it – because every time I turn around, another Grey’s Anatomy cast member is whining about something.  Ellen Pompeo once told Oprah how much she hated Meredith’s “pick me, choose me, love me” monologue to Derek.  Isaiah Washington was fired for his gay slurs and generally combative nature on set (while Brooke Smith was fired for no reason at all).  Katherine Heigl released a statement to the press saying she’d turn down an Emmy nomination last year, because she was so unhappy with her character’s storyline.  Patrick Dempsey has complained in several interview about things behind the scenes that have made him unhappy.  Though T.R. Knight has remained relatively quiet, how many more unhappy Grey’s cast members can I listen to?

You know, it’s not every day that you land a show that gets picked up by the networks, never mind a show that is critically acclaimed with a strong fan base.  It’s a shame that Grey’s Anatomy seems like such a miserable place to work, from cast members not being able to get along to abrupt firings to people being unhappy with their storylines.  It has started to become apparent on the show too, which has not been a strong as it was in seasons 1 and 2.   Don’t hate me for saying this but perhaps the person who really needs to go is Shonda Rhimes.  I mean, if an entire group of employees aren’t happy, don’t you need to start looking at their leader and wondering why there’s such negativity in the room?

Dear T.R., Katherine, and whoever else is unhappy with their position on the show, stay, go.  I don’t care.  Will the cast of Grey’s Anatomy please stop complaining?  Life could be a lot worse than being unhappy with your storyline, for which you are paid millions of dollars.  Some people have real problems.
