Now that Medium is under CBS territory and on its Friday-night slate next season, the idea of having a crossover with Ghost Whisperer doesn’t seem too far fetched. Crossovers are a bit dangerous to tread especially when shows don’t have any common ground but since both series have themes with supernatural elements, the network might just be able to pull this one off.

When asked if Patricia Arquette’s Allison may bump into Jennifer Love Hewitt‘s Melinda in the near future, Entertainment president Nina Tassler won’t say no. In fact, she even hints that CBS has plenty of plans for Medium and that, “It’s never too soon [to consider the crossover]. Their mythologies are different, and we haven’t talked about a crossover, but it’s possible. I think right now, the shows have a different language. They have a different skill set, different rules, etc., but once we get the show launched and comfortable in its time period, we could certainly talk about it.”

“It’s like a blend of two genres,” Tassler added of Medium, which will air in between Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs on Fridays. “It’s got that similar sensibility to Ghost Whisperer, but it’s also got a crime-solving element. If Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs had an offspring, it would be Medium.”

While Medium mostly caters to audiences with interest in the supernatural with a mix of crime and drama, Ghost Whisperer‘s appeal comes from Melinda’s relationship with Jim and the drama behind the spirits’ unfinished business, as well as the exploration of earthbound spirits and the dark side. Still, both shows sit right next to each other in terms of the ratings, making them perfect companions for each other, whether or not CBS decides to push through with the crossover.

Both Medium and Ghost Whisperer are scheduled to premiere on September 25.
