Fans can expect Port Charles to be a little more crowded by the end of this month. According to Soap Opera Digest, Canadian actor Dominic Zamprogna has just joined the cast of General Hospital and will be making his debut on the ABC soap on June 22.

Zamprogna catapulted to stardom for his role on Edgemont, a Canadian television series that aired from 2001 to 2005 and revolved around the everyday dealings of teenagers in a fictitious suburb of Vancouver, British Columbia. He played Mark Deosdade and was paired with Kristin Kreuk‘s (Smallville) on-screen character in a storyline that was very reminiscent of a soap opera, yet aired in seasons much like a primetime television program.

Following his stint on Edgemont, Zamprogna lingered on primetime TV with guest roles on MythQuest, Da Vinci’s Inquest, Touching Evil, Cold Squad, Tru Calling and Supernatural.  His most recent work included appearances on Painkiller Jane, Bionic Woman, Battlestar Galactica, Smallville and The L Word where he played the recurring character Greg.

On General Hospital, Zamprogna will stir up the mob scene as the character Dominic, who is hired by Claudia (Sarah Brown) to help her with one of her ill-conceived schemes. But thing don’t go as planned and Dominic ends up making big waves in Port Charles, especially for Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth).

Aside from Zamprogna, Martha Byrne will also join the cast of General Hospital as Andrea Floyd. The actress, who also serves as a script writer for the CBS Daytime soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful, will be making her debut on June 17. This eight-time Daytime Emmy Award-nominee is best known for her role on the CBS Daytime soap opera As the World Turns as the character Lily Walsh Snyder.
