Fringe returns to TV tonight at 9pm on FOX after moving to Friday, also known as the Time Slot of Death. The episode is ominously titled “The Firefly,” ominous because the Joss Whedon series Firefly famously aired on Friday nights and was canceled far too soon.
However, things are a bit brighter for Fringe. It was a solid fan base, it’s been fantastic for the past year and the increased popularity of DVRs should help boost its viewership totals.

The return of Fringe brings everything fans have come to love about the show, as exhibited in these four clips. There’s comedy, emotional drama, intense action and a great guest star with Back to the Future‘s Christopher Lloyd.

Comedy: “Mah Na Mah Na”

In this bit of classic comedy, Walter does some late night experiments while listening to the catchiest tune ever. It’s impossible not to smile at “Mah Na Mah Na” (doo doooo, doo-doo-doo) or Walter looking like a fool with his pants on the ground.

Emotion: Peter and Olivia

How do you handle working with the woman you love who you thought you were dating when you were actually with her evil doppelganger from another universe? Based on this clip of Peter and Olivia, the answer is “Awkwardly.”

Guest Star: Christopher Lloyd

Who doesn’t love Doc Brown? Here we see Lloyd doing serious dramatic work and looking like he’s auditioning for an Iggy Pop biopic. You’re welcome for that idea, Hollywood.

Action: A Car Ride

Peter and Olivia are just driving along, what could possibly go wrong? Oh wait, this is Fringe.
