With FlashForward‘s expected cancellation, the fans hoped that the series would wrap up smoothly this Thursday. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case. There will be questions left unanswered, we’re sure, but do they have to be so many?

ABC Cancels FlashForward and Other Shows

Actress Sonya Walger told E! Online that she has good and bad news regarding the series finale. These last two episodes leading to the fulfillment of FlashForward will certainly be great, but – yes, there’s a but.

“There’s some closure to it, but there’s an awful lot left unexplained,” Walger said. She added that in the final episode, most of the mysteries in the pilot will get closure. As for the complete resolution? Nope.

Look at it this way, at least FlashForward will keep its audiences thinking. That’s always been one of the best things about this show anyway.

Still, Sonya Walger promises, “It was so satisfying to read the finale because there are still glitches in the system. There are anomalies–it’s like a beautiful map puzzle that just rounds itself out.”

The finale, “Future Shock,” will of course be the culmination of the flashforwards. It’s D-Day at last, and Mark Benford (Joseph Fiennes) is trying to prevent that and another blackout on the horizon. The latter will probably be what the second season will bring, had the show continued.

For now though, we might as well content ourselves with this finale. Jack Davenport told Michael Ausiello of EW.com that the FlashForward conclusion is “pretty fantastic.”

He went on, “We were all blown away when we read them. Do I think the story could have gone further? Sure. No one intends to do [just] one season — especially not with a grand concept-y show like this. I don’t think it will be unsatisfying, but it will not answer all the questions.”

“The [producers] had to be mindful that they may only get one season, so there are some satisfactory wrap-ups.”
