Fresh Hotties on 'Dancing with the Stars'
Fresh Hotties on 'Dancing with the Stars'
This week's Dancing with the Stars results show was probably one of the most interesting results shows that I have seen. I'm not usually a fan of results shows because they are so tedious and they usually draw out the elimination announcement until the very end of the hour, pretty much forcing us to waste our evenings.

But on this week's Dancing with the Stars results show, viewers were treated to a mini competition of professionals, making it very much like a performance show. The competition was between six professional dancers, three men and three women, who are all vying for a spot on next season's professional lineup. They performed in three groups of two, but since only one dancer is guaranteed a spot, it was really every dancer for his or herself.

What's interesting to note is that the professional ballroom dance world must not be very large. There were several familiar faces and surnames among the professional hopefuls.

First among them was Afton DelGrosso, little sister to Ashly DelGrosso, who appeared in the first three seasons of the Dancing with the Stars. In season 1, she was paired with New Kid on the block Joey McIntyre. They came in third place. Unfortunately, she didn't have much luck with her subsequent two partners. In season 2, she had to dance with Master P; they received the lowest scores on the show ever and were perennial bottom feeders of the leaderboard. In the third season, she and Harry Hamlin were the third couple to get kicked off, but at least they beat out professional douchebag Tucker Carlson.

Another sibling is Genya Mazo, who is the younger brother of Alec Mazo, husband to the beautiful Edyta Sliwinska. Among the pro hopefuls this week, I think Genya might be my favorite. Not because his dancing is superior to that of the others (really, I think they are all excellent dancers and would all do well on the show) but because he showed the most personality in the little time he had on camera. He seems to be a bit of a diva, judging from the way he wanted to take charge of his rehearsal session with Snow Urbin. I'm hoping he'll make it through at least for a couple of weeks.

Finally, the last familiar face is Snow Urbin. She was the runner up in season 1 of So You Think You Can Dance, and just like her partner Genya, she's definitely got an attitude which I found appealing. If she were to win the competition, she would become the fourth ex-So You Think You Can Dancer on Dancing with the Stars, joining Lacey Schwimmer, Chelsie Hightower and Dmitry Chaplin.

Besides these three professionals, the remaining three dancers competing for a spot on the cast are Mayo Alanen, an all-American cutie with Brobdignagian proportions, Anna Demidova, who is nearly as tall as Mayo, and Brent Borbon, a winsome young talent.

Next week, one male and one female from among these six pros will be eliminated based on who gets the fewest viewer votes. And in the remaining four weeks, one dancer will be eliminated each week until there is a winner.

Who are you rooting for?
