Looks like when Hill Harper said they’ll have an announcement regarding who will play the new character on CSI: NY, he really meant it.  Now we have a name.  Entertainment Weekly‘s Michael Ausiello reports that Sarah Carter has joined the sixth season of the crime drama as a series regular.

The problem is, I don’t have an idea who she’s playing.

The former Shark actress will play a new lab tech who aspires to work in the crime lab soon.  And, within the season, we’ll discover that she’s hiding something, much like many of those other characters in the CSI franchise–maybe it’s not a gambling problem or a drug problem or a shady immigrant past.

I don’t know if she is playing Kaye Sullivan, the new character which we’ve been making a fuss about for the past few weeks.  The only things we know about her character–a sexy and funny risk taker with an infectious enthusiasm for the job, much like Lindsay–doesn’t seem to fit the previous description.  And I thought she’s working with the lab itself, too.

And then there’s Harper saying that the new Kaye Sullivan girl will appear initially as a recurring role, or so he thinks.  Carter, on the other hand, is going to be a series regular.  And since Ausiello’s not telling who this character is, well, I have new questions.  Most importantly, who is she replacing, if any, and what will she be doing in the show?

Maybe a love interest to Adam?

Oh, and I must add, while I was writing this, Harper tweeted again.  “Basically everyone has returned from the previous season,” he wrote.  Which means…
