, has signed on to star in an independently-produced feature film comedy called Misconceptions
. The film is being directed by Oscar and Emmy-nominated director Ron Satlof and is written by Ira Pearlstein and Ron Satlof.
Described as a movie that takes a lighthearted look at the ongoing culture war between same-sex parenting and Christian conservatives, Misconceptions
features the Criminal Minds
actress as Melinda Bliss, a religiously conservative, married southern woman who receives a message from God telling her to act as a surrogate mother and carry a child for two married gay men who live in Boston, consisting a Jewish doctor and an African-American dance choreographer. Trouble and comedy ensue when when the African-American man comes to her home down south to “manage” her pregnancy.
