Last night, CBS launched the second season of the reality TV game show called Million Dollar Password, which is an updated version of the classic game show Password.  Still hosted by Regis Philbin, the series features contestants as they team up with celebrities to give and receive clues to one another to determine a password designated for a particular round.

The format of Million Dollar Password departs somewhat from its predecessors in terms of game play.  For the first half of the game, there's an elimination portion featuring two contestants and two celebrity guests.  The contestants alternate playing 30-second rounds in which they try to match as many as five given words with a celebrity partner using the traditional one-word clue method.  The contestants are each paired with one of the celebrity partners for the first two rounds, and then switch partners for the next two rounds.  The rounds alternate between the contestant giving and receiving clues, such that they give and receive once to each celebrity.  After four rounds, the contestant who has matched the most words moves on to the Million Dollar Password game.

The premiere episode aired from 8pm to 9pm with Boston Legal's William Shatner and former Ghost Whisperer cast member Aisha Tyler as guests.  Shatner, who just wrapped up Boston Legal recently, didn't do so well compared to Aisha Tyler who was the first to have two $100K Million Dollar rounds.

Aside from Aisha Tyler and the Boston Legal star, Million Dollar Password has also enlisted the following celebrities:

December 21
Julie Chen (The Early Show, Big Brother) and Phil Keoghan (The Amazing Race)

December 28
Legendary comedic actress Betty White (The Golden Girls) and Adam Carolla (The Adam Carolla Show, The Man Show)

January 4
Craig Ferguson (The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson) and Olympic gold medalist and professional tennis player Serena Williams

January 11
Jamie Kennedy (Ghost Whisperer) and comedian Norm MacDonald (Saturday Night Live)

January 25
Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm) and Chelsea Handler (Chelsea Lately)
