Tonight will be the third week without Bones on Fox, thanks to the World Series.  On the last episode, skeletal remains are found in the Chesapeake Bay and Brennan and Booth to investigate.  The thing is, only the upper torso of the victim was intact, so the team had little to work at.  Fortunately, the remnants of the victim’s breast implants were there, too.  Their probe led them to a small church community in Maryland, discovering that the victim was a pastor, only they don’t have any record of her before she moved to the small town five years ago.

As we wait for the resumption of Bones next week, a critic from the Los Angeles Times commented on how it’s precisely the lack of sex and the resulting tension that makes the Bones-Booth dynamic one of a kind and exciting.

“Yes, the sexual tension hangs heavy, and everyone knows Booth and Brennan want to do it, Sam-and-Diane style” David Tischman writes.  “But series creator Hart Hanson also writes an adult male-female friendship that is wonderful and special without being precious.”

He then poses the question of whether or not the long-anticipated hook-up between the two will ruin the friendship.  “Brennan and Booth try to explain away the respect and concern they feel for each other as something simple — they’re partners, like Mulder and Scully — but “Bones” gives us the first on-screen pairing that makes you think and gives you pause.”

Just this season, it was really memorable how Booth arrived at Brennan’s place to see a half-naked man (and the pun on some underwater work).  At the very least, the scene has brought to fore something they may have been ignoring.

However, as it stands, Bones fans will have to wait and see if there will be consummation of the relationship.  Catch Bones when it returns to Fox on November 5.
