Chaunteé Schuler has recently joined the cast of As the World Turns as Bonnie McKechnie, the daughter of Duncan and Jessica.  But while her arrival in Oakdale considerably involves handling the legal troubles of the town’s residents, specifically helping Holden (Jon Hensley) in his impending divorce from Lily (Martha Byrne), Schuler says that Bonnie’s return also signifies a new beginning as she is now equipped with more wisdom and a sense of maturity.

“They will learn a little bit [about what Bonnie’s been doing since she left Oakdale] but Bonnie returning is her way of starting a new chapter in her life.  There have been a lot of things that have happened that have been tough for her.  She returns to have a fresh start,” Schuler said.

Bonnie left Oakdale to live in Florida following Isaac’s proposal of marriage.  While she was away, she got a law degree, married and then divorced Isaac.  Four years after, she returned to enter into practice with her mother and is now a lawyer looking to settle down in town.

Looking ahead, the attempt to start a new chapter in her life comes with the possibility of having a love interest in the near future.  So far, Bonnie and Holden have hit it off quite well but Schuler remains uncertain of what’s in store for her character’s love life.

“We’re not sure.  Bonnie comes back to town kind of lonely.  She has her cousin Dallas [Wole Parks] who acts as a confidant, but Bonnie is really trying to concentration on work and getting herself back on her feet… Viewers will just have to wait and see,” she said.

As a new comer on the soap world, Schuler looks forward to giving Bonnie a new spin, especially since the character has already been portrayed by several actresses in the past, including Caroline Aimetti, Chloe Morris and Napiera Danielle.

“I think the last time Bonnie was seen in Oakdale, she was very young and kind of a spoiled brat. She had a lot of money and she had a lot of time on her hands.  Bonnie returns changed.  A lot of things have happened to her to alter her lifestyle, we’re going to get a much more mature Bonnie,” she revealed.
