Ana Ortiz, who plays America Ferrera's on-screen older sister Hilda Suarez on ABC's Ugly Betty, will be making a quick stop in Charleston, South Carolina, while the rest of the cast of Ugly Betty makes the move to New York for the third season of the dramedy.  According to TV Guide, the 37-year-old actress will be making a guest appearance on Lifetime's military drama, Army Wives.

In addition to her current acting gig on Ugly Betty, Ortiz is also known for her roles on NYPD Blue, Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman, Commander In Chief, Boston Legal, Everybody Loves Raymond, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Over There and her first full-time series role, Kristin.

Not much has been said about Ortiz's upcoming appearance on Army Wives, although it has been hinted that she will play Sandi, a litigious waitress who gets mixed up with Roxy (Sally Pressman) and Trevor (Drew Fuller).

This casting news is, of course, still part of the show's continuous effort to uphold its ratings.  Army Wives, the highest-rated series in Lifetime's 24-year history, continues to attract solid ratings, becoming the signature drama the network had been hoping for.

The second season premiere episode of the drama series about domestic life in the army base  pulled in 4.5 million total viewers, with 3.3 million viewers among women 18-plus, while the second episode, which aired June 15, has attracted the most women 25 to 54 in the network's history.

“These strong second episode ratings clearly demonstrate the passion and commitment our viewers feel towards Army Wives,” Lifetime president Susanne Daniels said in a statement.  “That loyalty, along with the creativity of the series, from the writing and acting to the directing, has made Army Wives into one of those rare television series -- must-see, appointment viewing -- that we hope will carry us through all 19 episodes, right through the summer and fall.”
