Two winners have been making headlines lately, and neither story is all that pleasant: Kris Allen and his wife are recovering from a car accident. (But there’s also some good news mixed in — namely, a baby announcement.) And Fantasia went on a rant on Instagram, going off on things like same-sex marriage. Also in today’s Roundup, a new season 12 promo focuses on the contestants getting emotional after hearing good news from the judges.

Kris Allen and Wife in Car Accident, Expecting Baby

We’ve got some good news and some bad news to share about season 8 winner Kris Allen. He and his wife (and their dog, Zorro) were in a head-on collision that took place on New Year’s Day. Amazingly, the dog was okay, but both Kris and wife Katy suffered injuries. His mom, Kimberly, has been providing updates on Twitter, along with a picture of his son: “From Kris: he’s in a lot of pain, arm broke, may not play guitar for a while. Prayers welcome please! #headoncollision.”

Kimberly followed that up with, “Kristopher and Katy are both pretty beat up but ALIVE! Thank you Jesus! They are setting his arm now and will have surgery tomorrow. … Zorro is fine too! Very shook up, but not injured.”

It looks like the whole Allen family is on Twitter because even Kris’ father posted some pictures. (And he confirmed that, yes, Kris and Katy were wearing seatbelts.) Take a look at how beat up the car is after the accident:

Now for the good news. In the midst of all the Twitter action, Kris announced that he and Katy are expecting a baby: “Yes I got in a really bad wreck tonight and yes I’m having a lil baby. #gonnabeadaddy.” It’s a big relief to know that everyone made it out alive, and we’ll be thinking of them as they go through surgery and recovery. And a big congratulations on the baby news goes out to them as well.

New Promo: “Feel the Moment”

Another week, another promo for American Idol season 12. This new one showcases the auditioners getting emotional after hearing good news from the judges. “Feel the anticipation. Feel the heartbreak. Feel the moment that changes everything.” Some of the previous promos have only had hired actors playing wannabe stars. But as we get closer and closer to January 16 (only two weeks away now), we’re now seeing footage of the actual contestants and their reactions.

Fantasia’s Anti-Gay Rant on Instagram

It’s no secret that Fantasia’s personal life is a mess, to put it simply. And things don’t seem to be getting any better. She went on a rant on Instagram, going off on a whole host of issues: “I Rise ABOVE IT ALL!!! THE WORLD IS GONE MAD. KIDS, THE GOVERNMENT THE Church House … Everybody Trying!!!!!!! Its a lot that going on that the Bible speaks about we should Not be doing. Weed legal in some places, Gay Marriage Legal BUT YET IM JUDGED!!! I’m not doing Nothing for you … My Life!!!!”

Not surprisingly, the image with this text has been taken down. But she followed it up to clarify her words: “It has been brought to my attention that something I said was taken out of context. I Fantasia Monique Barrino don’t judge anyone because I don’t want to be judged. The gay community is one of my largest supporters. I support the gay community as well as they support me. Bloggers please stop misrepresenting the facts.” I don’t think bloggers are misrepresenting anything. If you just read her own words, she says she doesn’t judge, but it’s obvious that’s what she’s doing here. And she says she has a large gay following, but it’ll be interesting to see if that changes after this.

Her comments swept all corners of the web, and it soon became obvious that her people needed to go into damage control mode. Her management team released this statement: “Comments made by Ms. Barrino … were recently taken far out of context, and the purpose of this release is to set the record straight. Ms. Barrino is not now, nor has ever been an opponent of the LGBT community. She has supported and performed at numerous events that are sponsored by the LGBT community.” Even this statement isn’t doing anything to help Fantasia, since she does condemn same-sex marriage yet the comments here say she’s not an opponent of the LGBT community.

What do you think? Will this hurt her public image even more? Will her record label support her releasing another album? And will she ever come out with an actual apology?
