Time will stop again on the set of
24. As
reported earlier this week, production on the FOX series will cease for two weeks, beginning September 15, to re-evaluate the program's creative direction after executive producer Howard Gordon expressed dissatisfaction with scripts. But with the long wait ahead before the new season kicks off in January 2009, the network is doing everything it can to ease the wait.
On September 14, the network is inviting viewers to buckle up starting at 8pm for a “FOX Sunday Night Thrill Ride” as it airs the encore presentation of the series premiere of
Fringe, the heart-pounding first four minutes of
Fringe's second episode, an exclusive first-look preview of the science fiction remake of
The Day the Earth Stood Still and an advance look at the highly anticipated film
24: Redemption.
The three-minute trailer for
24: Redemption gives fans a chance to catch a glimpse of the two-hour special event airing on Sunday, November 23 at 8pm ET/PT on FOX. Shot on location in South Africa and Los Angeles, the movie follows Jack Bauer, portrayed by Emmy Award winner
Kiefer Sutherland, as he battles an international crisis, while the nation prepares for inauguration day, where Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) is being sworn in to office. Taking place just a few months before the new day dawns,
24: Redemption introduces viewers to some of the key characters who will be right in the middle of the action when season seven premieres in January 2009.
The new
24 movie prequel, which also features new cast members Robert Carlyle, Gil Bellows and Academy Award winner Jon Voight, was originally named
24: Exile but was eventually changed to
24: Redemption, which will have an extended director's cut released on DVD on November 24, a day after the two-hour movie premiere.
