Biography

An American actress, Catherine Anne “Kate” Bosworth was born on January 2, 1983 in Los Angeles, California. She was born with sectoral hecterochroma, resulting in a hazel part at the bottom of her right blue eye. She left San Francisco at the age of six, owing to her family’s continuous travels and her father’s job. Her interest in race horses has made her a champion equestrian at the age of 14. Attending Cohasset High School, where she graduated in 2001, Kate Bosworth learned to speak Spanish and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Her first acting stint was for a role in the Robert Redford film The Horse Whisperer in 1998. Bosworth’s experience as a horse rider earned her the part of the lead female’s best friend, Judith. This was followed in 2000 by a role in The Newcomers, and guest roles in the TV series Young Americans. That same year, she had a small part in Remember the Titans, acting with Denzel Washington. In 2001, she moved to Los Angeles to obtain more success in auditions and better parts in films. In 2002, she had her first leading role in the surfing movie Blue Crush, allowing her mainstream exposure.

Kate Bosworth has taken on roles in independent films such as The Rules of Attraction and in Wonderland in 2003. She appeared in widely-released films as well. In 2004, she portrayed Sandra Dee in Beyond the Sea, and the lead role of Rosalee Futch in Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! In a film adaptation of Mya Goldberg’s novel Bee Season, Kate Bosworth played a Hare Krishna namedChali.

Kate has appeared in several Revlon advertisements and was voted the 60th in FHM’s “100 Sexiest Women in the World 2005” list. Competing with many other actresses, she landed the role of reporter Lois Lane for the blockbuster Superman Returns in 2006. She was also cast in the psychological drama The Girl in the Park, and as Jill Taylor in 21, reuniting her with Superman Returns co-star Kevin Spacey.
