Things are about to get crazy on Glee — and a certain character will get veeerrryyy sleeepppyy. After “Jagged Little Tapestry” had a very serious storyline involving Coach Beiste, it looks like the next episode, “The Hurt Locker, Part One” will take a lighter approach, particularly when it comes to Sue and Sam.

FOX has released a clip from the episode, in which Sue attempts to hypnotize Sam — but why would she do that? What crazy scheme is she up to now?

Glee Episode 6.4 Songs: A Rachel and Sam Duet, Vocal Adrenaline Performs “Whip It” >>>

According to the synopsis for episode four, Sue attempts to hypnotize Sam to get him to make a move on Rachel. What for? Of course, Sue wants to throw Rachel off her game while she’s working on the glee club. Rachel will be trying to make a deal with Will so that Vocal Adrenaline doesn’t do well at the Invitational, and I’m sure Sue isn’t too happy about that.

The below video begins with Sue going into the locker room where Sam is. It’s already off to a strange start when she asks him, “How susceptible to suggestion are you?” Things go downhill from there for Sam, but does he fall for Sue’s trick?

Watch the clip here to find out:

This whole scene is very odd, but I still find it humorous. Both Jane Lynch and Chord Overstreet are playing off of each other really well here as they go back and forth, with Sue telling him outright that she thinks he is susceptible to suggestion — and he goes right along with it: “Oh my god, I think you’re right.”

Sue keeps putting things into his head even before he’s hypnotized. “Are you familiar with The Manchurian Candidate?” she asks. And he keeps giving responses like, “I don’t know, do you think I am?”

At this point, the scene is strangely funny, then Sue whips out the watch to hypnotize him. And Sam keeps saying the obvious like, “Oh my god, I’m totally hypnotized.” The way he’s delivering his lines is perfect.

The three words/phrases she wants him to pay attention to — the trigger words to make him fall in love with Rachel — are ‘piano,’ ‘flatbed truck’ and ‘let’s do a song.’ ‘Piano’ and ‘let’s do a song’ make sense, since Rachel is in charge of the glee club, but ‘flatbed truck’? What is that about? Sue obviously said it for a reason, so we’ll have to watch the episode to see what a flatbed truck has to do with her scheme.

The big question is, will Rachel fall victim to Sue’s plan as well? When Sam kisses her, will she get flustered enough and end up making New Directions do poorly at the Invitational?

When you look at the song list for this episode, the two will be singing together on Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles,” so I’d say Sue’s plan will probably work, at least temporarily.

Sue also gets her time in the musical spotlight when she sings Meredith Brooks’ “Bitch.” The other two songs being performed in “The Hurt Locker, Part One” are The B-52s’ “Rock Lobsters” and Devo’s “Whip It.”

Do you like the humor in this clip between Sue and Sam? What do you think of this storyline with Sam falling for Rachel? And do you think Sue’s plan will work?

Glee airs Fridays at 9pm on FOX.
