For fans worried that last season’s finale cliffhanger wouldn’t be resolved (like it’s won’t be with Rush‘s big cliffhanger after that series was cancelled), don’t worry: USA has renewed Graceland for a third season.

The new season will air in summer 2015 and consist of 13 episodes, the same as with season 2.

“This season of Graceland took viewers on a wild ride with unexpected character twists, and a heart-stopping cliffhanger that left a lead character’s fate in question,” USA Network President Chris McCumber said in a statement. “Jeff Eastin and the talented ensemble cast deliver on all levels, and season 3 will undoubtedly continue to keep us on the edge of our seats.”

Added Nancy Cotton, Senior Vice President of Programming at FOX Television Studios, “FTVS truly values the long and fruitful relationship we have with Jeff and USA. We could not be more excited to bring USA viewers another thrilling season of Graceland.”

Graceland follows a group of undercover agents, from the FBI, DEA and ICE, who all live under the same roof, and along the way are keeping dangerous secrets from one another.

Season 2 saw Mike Warren return to the Graceland house and be the point person on a major initiative against the cartel. And while there were bound to be obstacles along the way, it was nothing compared to the cliffhanger that ended the season in which Mike’s breathing tube was blocked by none other than Sid. Fortunately, we’ll be able to see a resolution to that nail-biter of an ending.

Following the finale, creator Jeff Eastin spoke with Entertainment Weekly and said, “He looks pretty dead. I won’t confirm or deny, but what you see is what you get.”

Eastin also said that the start of season 2 “isn’t what you’re expecting probably. We don’t open season 3 in a hospital. We open season 3 with Charlie and Jakes getting ready for some kind of an event and Jakes can’t find his black tie” and neither one is in a good mood. “They could be getting ready for a funeral or they could be getting ready for something else.” What a tease.

USA notes that an average of 2.6 million viewers tuned in to season 2, with 1.25 million in the 18-49 demographic and 1.4 million in the 25-54 demo. With DVR views added in, there was a 112% increase in viewership in the 18-49 demo.

The series stars Aaron Tveit, Daniel Sunjata, Vanessa Ferlito, Brandon Jay McLaren, Serinda Swan and Manny Montana.

This announcement follows other renewals in recent months by USA for SuitsSatisfaction and Royal Pains.

Are you excited that USA has renewed Graceland for another season? Relieved that the cliffhanger in the season 2 finale will be resolved? And how do you think that storyline will unfold in season 3?
