Besides the Brokeback Bromance brewing on The Bachelorette, there’s another controversial moment that’s about to unfold in season 11 and it involves none other than Nick Viall, also known as Andi Dorfman’s runner-up in The Bachelorette season 10.

On Monday’s episode, Kaitlyn tells her remaining suitors about Nick’s arrival, explaining that she just wants to give him a chance and see what happens. The men, however, do not take the news well. Tanner even reminds the men of Nick’s behavior last season on After the Final Rose, where he revealed on live TV that Andi slept with him in the Fantasy Suite before dumping him for Josh Murray.

“They were confused, shocked, some were really supportive,” Kaitlyn previously told E! News. “And said, ‘We’re all here to make you happy and if this is something that could potentially be your happily ever after, you have to explore that. For the majority of them, they were not impressed. Understandably.”

If you’re an avid Bachelorette fan, you probably already know about Nick’s return this season. It turns out Nick and Kaitlyn started talking to each other even before she signed on to do The Bachelorette. And while they never had a chance to meet in person, they forged a friendship over social media.

A source tells E! News that although “feelings had developed” Nick “never wanted to stand in the way of her opportunity” to be The Bachelorette

“He decided he wanted to do the show and pursue her,” the source added. “His attitude was, you only have one life. But he weighed the decision seriously. There was a lot of deliberating. If she had started to develop feelings for someone else, he didn’t want to ruin it for her. He genuinely cares for her and wants her to be happy.”

Kaitlyn has also been open about her connection with Nick prior to The Bachelorette. “We had a friendship before I came on and had that chance of being the Bachelorette, and we had talked a lot and had this connection that we both only understood as a friendship,” she admitted. “After I was gone, I guess he was missing that friendship and thinking maybe it was more than just a friendship connection.”

The Bachelorette airs Monday at 8pm on ABC.
