As we reported earlier, the some of the cast members of CSI graced the opening of CSI: The Experience, an interactive exhibit at the Chicago Muesum of Science and Industry.  Howoever, show creator Anthony Zuiker aimed for something more than just marketing and promotion.

“I wanted people to feel like they took the next step from television, which is having a hands-on experience,” Zuiker said. “For me, what it does is give scholastic elevation to the television show.  It far surpasses just one medium, into an educational medium.  If TV can do that, then we’ve done something special.”

The CSI creator visited the museum to sign autographs but emphasized that the goal and intention of the exhibit, besides the drumming interest for the TV show, was to translate entertainment into education.

CSI fans who showed up to get Zuiker’s autograph raved about the exhibit.

“It was probably one of the best things I have ever seen,” Traci Christler, who drove from Indianapolis to be the first in line, told the Daily Southtown.  “I just really love the whole interactive element of it, that you could go piece by piece and solve the crime.”

“I like the investigations,” Jamarielle Marks, who wants to grow up to be a forensic psychologist like his mother, told the Daily Southtown.  “I think everyone should try [the exhibit] because it’s so cool, and it’s hard sometimes, and [sometimes] kind of easy, and you learn a lot.”

For Zuiker, who aims to inspire children to pursue forensic science as a career, Marks’ reaction was exactly what he was hoping for.

“The best thing to do is come down here, solve crimes, get inspired, go back to school and follow a scholastic path toward criminal justice,” Zuiker said.  “Someday, you’re walking through a crime scene with a field kit, and you know what, you could be Grissom.”
