A show like Run’s House is mainly about fun and lighthearted life lessons. But the tragic loss of Victoria Anne, the happily-anticipated first daughter for Rev. Run (Joseph Simmons) and Justine Simmons (Angela Simmons and Vanessa Simmons are Rev. Run’s daughters from a previous marriage and Justine’s stepdaughters) was a sobering reminder that the Simmons family is for real.

Naturally, the healing process takes a long time, but one thing Justine was clear on was that she wanted to move forward with her plans for expanding the family sooner rather than later.

She couldn’t go through the process of trying to give birth again, and so wanted, instead, to adopt. “I wanted a girl really bad, and I knew I wasn’t going to try again. That could have really messed me up.”

Some might be surprised by or concerned about how quickly Justine wanted to move forward with pursuing an adoption, but Justine knew that it would be a necessary part of the healing from her devastating loss. She said, “People say, ‘You need to mourn,’ and you do, but only a little because the more you mourn, the more you want to mourn. I would have landed in depression.”

She and Rev. Run have been talking about adoption on Run’s House, and a recent episode featured the parents babysitting as a refresher course for having a young baby in the house.

And earlier this year, the family actually completed the adoption process. US Weekly reports that in September, the family welcomed into their home Miley Justine Simmons. A month old at the time, she is now four months old, and Rev. Run noted the blessing of having a baby in their home during the holidays. “It’s heaven to have this baby come into our house at this time, at Christmas.”

Fans of the Simmons family will have the chance to meet Miley during the episodes of Run’s House that air in January.
