Brooks Ayers, the ex-boyfriend of Vicki Gunvalson who became the center of controversy on season 10 of The Real Housewives of Orange County for his cancer diagnosis, still insists he has cancer despite the entire cast believing otherwise. However, he did come clean about fabricating medical documents to prove that he had undergone chemotherapy.

RHOC Star Meghan King Edmonds on Vicki Gunvalson: ‘She is a Filthy Liar’>>>

“Words cannot express the deep regret that I have in fabricating documents to ‘prove’ to the world that I, in fact, have cancer. What I did was wrong and inexcusable. I acted alone, without Vicki [Gunvalson]’s knowledge, to produce documents for a reality TV show in hopes of putting doubts about my cancer to rest,” Ayers told E! News in a statement. “I never intended to disclose my actual medical records or details about my private and personal medical history, thus the rationalization of presenting documents that weren’t true simply for a ‘storyline’ for the show.”

“From this day forward, my own personal journey with this disease will remain private as I initially intended over a year ago,” Ayers continued. “My sincerest apologies to my family, friends, loved ones, and those who are battling this horrid disease for any additional pain and/or stress that I have caused. As [University of Louisville basketball coach] Rick Pitino once said, ‘Mistakes can be good. They are fertilizer. Everything I’ve learned about coaching [life], I’ve learned from making mistakes.’ I made a mistake yet I have learned a huge lesson as well.”

Brooks Ayers Says RHOC Star Vicki Gunvalson Still Believes He Has Cancer>>>

Ayers admission comes shortly after a representative for City of Hope medical center reveals to E! News  that Ayers was never treated for cancer at their facility. Prior to that, Ayers presented documents with  the “City of Hope” logo in attempt to silence people accusing him of faking his cancer diagnosis.

“These are the three bills that reference the days I got my treatment,” he explained to E! News at the time. “I’m not going to say I’m in remission. That’s not going to be the case until my numbers have normalized and that’s the word that was used to me.”
