Fans of the Shelby clan have reason to cheer: a Peaky Blinders sequel series has officially been greenlit at both Netflix and the BBC, marking a bold continuation of the crime saga after the forthcoming Peaky Blinders movie. The new series will consist of two seasons, each comprising six hourlong episodes, and will pick up in 1953—well after the events of the film.
Two-Season Order & Where It Will Air
Netflix and BBC have ordered two new six‑part hour-long sequel series of Peaky Blinders. The sequel will air on BBC in the U.K. and on Netflix globally.
The official logline reads: “Britain, 1953. After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel. In a new era of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders, the race to own Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger: with the Shelby family right at its blood‑soaked heart.”
Timing, Setting & Story Scope
The sequel follows a “new generation of Shelbys.”
Set in post‑World War II Birmingham in 1953, the show will explore how the city rebuilds after wartime bombing.
Steven Knight, who created the original series, returns as writer-producer for the sequel. In his statement, Knight said: “Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz. The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride.”

Cast, Producers & Legacy Connections
While no full cast list is yet confirmed, Cillian Murphy is tapped as an executive producer.
The sequel will be produced by Kudos and Garrison Drama.
Original cast members from the series are expected to influence or appear in the film-to-series bridge. The upcoming film—The Immortal Man—features stars Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan, Tim Roth, Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, Ian Peck, and Jay Lycurgo opposite Murphy.
Where the Movie Fits In
The Peaky Blinders movie—titled The Immortal Man—serves as a bridge between the original series and the sequel.
Filming for the film reportedly wrapped on December 13, 2024. Steven Knight described the film as “mind-blowingly good” and called it “a fitting end to the first chapter.”
Next Steps & Release Outlook
No official premiere date has been announced for either the sequel series or the movie. The sequels will be distributed through Netflix and the BBC once ready.
