Actress Courtney Thorne-Smith has two things to look forward to next year. She will not only return for another season of According to Jim, but also give birth to her first child.

In Touch Weekly magazine reported recently that the 39-year-old actress is pregnant with her and Roger Fishman’s first child.  Thorne-Smith married Fishman, a businessman, in a small ceremony held on New Year’s Day at the backyard of her home.  Coincidentally, the actress is due to give birth in January 2008.

Courtney Thorne-Smith, who plays Cheryl on According to Jim, has been married twice.  Her first marriage to Dr. Andrew Conrad lasted for only seven months, after which she started seeing cardiologist Robert Andrews.  The couple eventually became engaged, but a few weeks before their wedding, Thorne-Smith broke off their engagement.

Her past experiences led her to make her second wedding ceremony as low-key as possible.  Sources told In Touch earlier this year that the According to Jim star was so concerned about the privacy on her special day that not even her parents were invited.

“She wanted to make sure she didn’t have egg on her face a third time,” the source added.  “Courtney and Roger took an extended vacation together over the Christmas holidays. After they returned, they quietly made it all legal.”

ABC’s According to Jim, where Courtney Thorne-Smith portrays a mother of three young children, was renewed for a seventh season last month. The show premiered in 2001 with a 4.2 average rating.

Last season, the show only averaged 2.3 in the adults 18-49 demographic.  The low ratings led many to believe that the show would be among those placed in the chopping block.

ABC announced the renewal of According to Jim only a month after the network formally came out with its 2007-08 lineup.  The new season will serve as a midseason replacement.
