Flavor Flav has already tapped into the music circuit as a member of the politically-conscious hip hop group Public Enemy and has graced the world of reality TV with his highly rated dating series Flavor of Love.  Now, he attempts to conquer the comedy industry with his new sitcom Under One Roof.

As reported previously, the new sitcom features the Flavor of Love star playing a convict trying to turn his life around by moving in with his conservative brother played by Kelly Perine.
According to Flavor Flav, his foray into comedy comes from his admiration for his former classmate Eddie Murphy, who has successfully etched his name in the entertainment industry as an actor, film director, producer and comedian.

“Eddie was in my ninth grade English class at Roosevelt Junior-Senior High School.  Today he is one of the most successful actors and I’m very proud of my boy,” Flavor Flav said of his acting inspiration.

At present, Murphy ranks as the number one grossing film star in history, having a total of 33 films to date with his movies grossing over $3.4 billion in the U.S. alone and averaging $104 million per film.  A regular cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1980 to 1984, he has worked as a stand-up comedian and has also established a minor singing career.  He has garnered numerous awards and nominations for films like Dreamgirls, Shrek the Third, The Nutty Professor and Beverly Hills Cop, just to name a few.

Flavor Flav also claims he has slipped into his Under One Roof role quite easily because his bad boy character echoes his own early life.

“It relates to my life a lot because, back in the days before I became Public Enemy, I was always in and out of jail, getting in trouble,” the Flavor of Love star said.
