The first night of the 2025 Creative Arts Emmy Awards delivered an exciting celebration of television’s craft and creativity at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 6, 2025. A total of 50 awards were handed out across categories ranging from guest acting to technical achievements, setting the stage for the Primetime Emmys later this month.

Major Acting Highlights

Several big names took home trophies on opening night. Julianne Nicholson earned Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance in Hacks, while Bryan Cranston won Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for The Studio. Merritt Wever was also recognized, winning Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Severance.

Creative Wins Across Genres

The night proved especially fruitful for shows pushing visual and stylistic boundaries. The Penguin dominated in multiple categories, winning for hairstyling, costumes, prosthetic makeup, visual effects, and sound editing. Andor was another standout, securing wins for costumes, production design, picture editing, and special visual effects.

Bridgerton added to its reputation for period drama excellence, taking home awards for Period Costumes, Period Hairstyling, and a voice-over performance by Julie Andrews. Meanwhile, Severance collected awards for Production Design, Title Design, and acting recognition.

Animation and Stunts

Animation had its own moment in the spotlight, with Arcane winning Outstanding Animated Program as well as individual juried awards for background design and color. Love, Death + Robots also received multiple juried honors in animation design categories.

Stunts were not overlooked: The Righteous Gemstones triumphed in Stunt Coordination for Comedy, while The Boys captured victories in Stunt Coordination for Drama and Stunt Performance.
