It’s been less than three months since the first candidate threw his hat into the presidential race, and now the 12th Republican contender has officially declared. Real estate mogul and The Celebrity Apprentice star Donald Trump has announced that he is running for President of the United States in the 2016 election.

During Trump’s kickoff speech, he said, “Our country needs a truly great leader, and we need a truly great leader now. … We need a leader that can bring back our jobs, manufacturers, military, to take care of our vets. We need somebody that can take the brand of the United States and make it great again. Ladies and gentlemen, I am officially running for President of the United States. We are going to make our country great again.”

4 Examples That Prove Donald Trump is a Terrible Candidate for President >>>

This isn’t the first time Trump has entertained the idea of running for President. It seems like whenever a presidential election comes around, he’s always saying he’s “seriously” considering a run, but he never ends up following through.

As anybody who pays even the slightest bit of attention to Donald Trump knows, he loves to talk about money and how much money he has, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that he brought it up in his speech, revealing that he is worth over $8 billion. “I’m not doing that to brag because I don’t have to. I’m doing that to say that’s the kind of thinking our country needs.”

Now that Trump has entered the race, what does this mean for the future of his reality show The Celebrity Apprentice? He has been the host since the very first season. Will NBC replace him?

In a statement, NBC said (via The Hollywood Reporter), “We will re-evaluate Trump’s role as host of Celebrity Apprentice should it become necessary, as we are committed to this franchise.” As a candidate, Trump cannot be on the show because NBC would be giving him unequal screen time.

NBC Renews The Celebrity Apprentice for Season 8 >>>

This statement by the network is pretty vague. When they say “should it become necessary,” they probably mean if Trump gets the Republican nomination or even wins the presidency. But in reality, the chances of him actually winning anything in this race is slim to none. He will be considered a joke candidate, for obvious reasons. So when he eventually drops out, he can then talk with NBC again and begin plans for another season of Celebrity Apprentice.

The show did not air in 2014, but when The Celebrity Apprentice returned in 2015, ratings went up from the previous season. So it came as no surprise when NBC decided to renew it for an eighth season. Considering the show was able to come back after that hiatus and not continue a downward spiral in the ratings, NBC could easily put it on the back burner for now and then bring it back after another hiatus when Trump is available again.

Regardless of what happens with The Celebrity Apprentice, and regardless of anybody’s political views, it’s sure to be entertaining to watch Trump run for President.
