Sofia Milos, popularly known as Yelina Salas on CSI: Miami, has just landed a new acting gig on CBC, Canada’s national television broadcaster.   According to the 42-year-old actress, she’ll be starring in a new action drama series called The Border, which will be filming through December 12 in Toronto.

'CSI: Miami' Actress Lands New TV Series

On her official website, Milos says that she’ll be playing Bianca La Garda, a special agent working for the Department of Homeland Security.  He reveals that her character’s father is Cuban while her mother is Italian and that her family immigrated to the United States and became proud Americans. Inspired by border and legal jurisdiction issues directly from headline stories, The Border follows Bianca and her fellow agents as they patrol the boundary between the United States and Canada.

The Border is the hot new high action drama… The show is executive produced by Peter Raymont, who just won an Emmy for the documentary Shake Hands with the Devil and Brian Dennis, Creative producers David Barlow, Janet McLean, and Sarah Dodd,” the Miami actress said.

“CBC international [will be representing] the televised series for worldwide distribution.  In fact, Peter and I are going to MIPCOM in Cannes this week to meet all the international distributors.  Very exciting because I am truly proud of this show and the group of people I work with.  From the talented cast [Nazneen Contractor, Jonas Chernick, Catherine Disher] to our director John Fawcett and crew,” she added.

On CSI: Miami, Milos portrayed a Colombian homicide detective frequently attached to CSI investigations and the widow of Horatio Caine’s (David Caruso) brother Raymond.  She had a relationship with IAB Sergeant Rick Stetler, Horatio’s personal nemesis.  After her husband Raymond was revealed to be still alive, she left with him and their son for Brazil, where they planned to keep a low profile for Raymond’s safety.  She was not seen in the entire season 4 but returned in the fifth season opener and continues to be a recurring character in season 6.
