Aynsley Bubbico is an actress who is perhaps most noted for her role as Laura on Greek.  But if you saw Monday night’s “Old King Clancy” broadcast of How I Met Your Mother, then you’d probably remember her as Maya.  If that name still doesn’t ring a bell, she’s the girl Ted (Josh Radnor) tried to hit on at the elevator.  She also told him that the new GNB project he was working on was already scrapped.  According to IMDB, fans will be seeing her again as she resurfaces on the CBS sitcom sometime in May.

While that doesn’t seem too much of a big deal, I stumbled upon an interesting article on New York Magazine which ponders on the possibility that Maya may be the mother of Ted’s children.

There were no yellow umbrellas in “Old King Clancy” that would have hinted Maya as the mother of Ted’s children but there was something about the elevator scene that evidently ignited the speculation.  Perhaps it was because cameras lingered on Maya for quite a long a time or that the elevator scene was quite long, which is something unusual for a fast-paced series, and it wasn’t really that substantial to the progress of the episode.

Earlier this month, series co-creator Carter Bays assured fans that the series is getting back to its primary roots by focusing on “the mother.”

“At the end of the season, we will address the title of our show,” Bays revealed to Entertainment Weekly‘s Michael Ausiello, adding that the last four episodes will feature “big events in the lives of our characters — specifically Ted [Josh Radnor]. We’re going to wrap up some things that have been left dangling.”

“But I will say at the very least that the season will end with a complete sentence,” he teased. “We’ve left some sentence fragments dangling in past seasons, but this year, there will either be a period, a question mark or an exclamation point. We will be giving the audience that.”

Could Maya be the mother of Ted’s children?  Catch How I Met Your Mother every Monday on CBS.
