Last week’s CSI: NY held pretty significant breakthroughs in the effort to crack just who the Compass Killer is. So, Hollis Eckhart is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. He’s a paranoid schizophrenic. His wife died in a tragic shooting. And now, he’s exacting revenge, or something like it. But that doesn’t mean we’re any closer to the truth–especially now that he’s escaped from the clutches of the cops again, and possibly out for his next victim…
…and then Terence Davis returns, saving Flack from messing himself up big time. I know Angell died, and I know it’s hard, but a little more and you’re going the Compass Killer’s direction, and that’s not fun.
Tonight’s show wraps up the story of the Compass Killer, and that means we should say goodbye–and give applause–to Skeet Ulrich. But, of course, there’s one more thing: he has to get caught first. But there is light at the end of the tunnel, to use that scratchy metaphor: the team will find Hollis’ lair. And then, they realize they have to search for a fourth victim and stop that guy from getting killed.
But there’s a surprise, and it comes with the sunrise. The cue, apparently, is in the episode’s title: “Manhattanhenge”. I did not know this, having never been to New York, but it’s an event, that happens every two years, when the sun aligns with the streets in Manhattan going east to west, so if you’re traveling those streets, you’ll see the sun straight ahead, and perfectly aligned. That’s where the east part in the last compass definitely is: that, and sunrise…
