Landman season 2 returns to Paramount+ on November 16, 2025, and Ali Larter is meeting the debate around Angela Norris head‑on. The 49‑year‑old, who plays the flirty ex‑wife of Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris, frames the conversation around authorial intent, audience reaction, and the character’s domestic heartbeat. Larter calls creator Taylor Sheridan “a provocateur,” saying he writes characters “that make people respond” and that his shows are “wildly original and authentic.”

Larter describes Angela’s season‑1 arc as romantic at its core. “You’re watching this woman leave a life behind of luxury,” she says, because “she wants to be with the person she loves.” The appeal is simple and human: “And she wants to laugh.” What Larter shares with Angela is a protective streak — a “fierce mama bear.” “I would move heaven and earth for my children,” she says.

That connection shows up at the table. “Taylor started really pushing that after I was cast for the role,” Larter says of Angela’s cooking. During COVID, she joked that she was making “Michelin‑star Bento boxes” for her kids’ lunches. At home, she aims for “family dinner three nights a week.” It does not have to be elaborate: “It can be 10 minutes.” Angela’s version, she adds, is “more about the antics that come with it.”

Larter is also struck by the show’s reach. “It’s incredible how Taylor made oil fascinating,” she says, calling him a “genius” and noting that “different generations” find a connection to the story.

Off set, Larter and husband Hayes MacArthur moved to Sun Valley, Idaho in 2022. Life there has been, in her words, “incredibly calming and grounding” after “so many demands” in Los Angeles. While filming in Fort Worth, Texas, family remains the center with Teddy (14) and Vivienne (10). Confidence is part of the job, too. “There is no space in my mind for insecurity,” she says about stepping into Angela’s curve‑hugging wardrobe, adding, “The sexiest women I know are the women that own it.”

Why Larter’s defense of Taylor Sheridan matters for Landman season 2

Angela’s skimpy bikinis and tight dresses stirred backlash in season 1. Larter does not sugarcoat the reaction, but she centers Sheridan’s intent and the show’s reach. She emphasizes that Sheridan creates characters that “initiate a reaction” — exactly the kind of friction that makes oilfields and family dinners feel cinematic. If season 1 tracked a woman choosing love over comfort, season 2 sets the table for what that choice costs — and what it gives back.
