William Sadler was born April 13, 1950 in Buffalo, New York. He began his career as a stage actor and appeared in over 75 productions in a span of 12 years. On the big screen, among his most prominent roles were in Die Hard 2 with Bruce Willis, The Shawshank Redemption with Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins and the Tales from the Crypt movie, Demon Knight. On television, Sadler is best known as Sheriff Jim Valenti on the sci-fi series, Roswell.
Sheriff Jim Valenti, played by William Sadler on Roswell, used to be afraid of aliens but eventually gained respect for them, especially Max Evans. He has since devoted himself to saving and protecting them – something that often comes in conflict with his career duties and responsibilities.
