While the fourth season of Weeds is well underway, one of the stars of the popular Showtime series has been tending to some hosting and guest appearances. Kevin Nealon, who plays Doug Wilson in Showtime’s Weeds, recently appeared at the Marriott City Center in Minneapolis to be part of the third annual John T. Petters Foundation Legacy Gala, which had a Barcelona theme this year. The foundation, which supports the advancement of educational experiences for students by providing scholarships abroad, was founded by Petters Group CEO Tom Petters, and is dedicated to his late son who passed away in Florence, Italy at the age of 21.
Kevin Nealon served as the event’s marquee entertainer. Other guests included actor Christopher McDonald, Starkey Laboratories CEO Bill Austin, real estate mogul Ralph Burnet and Petters executive Mary Jeffries.

When the third season of Weeds concluded with a scene of a burned down Agrestic neighborhood, actress Elizabeth Perkins feared that she and several other cast members will be written off the show. However, all her worries immediately vanished as she started to shoot for the fourth season of the dark comedy series.
"It was so funny, when we read the finale we all sort of stopped and looked at each other and said, 'Does this mean I'm not coming back?' But we're scheduled to do 13 episodes, we're heading into episode three, and a large portion of the cast is still on our show," Perkins, who portrays Celia Hodes on Weeds, told the National Ledger.

With the fourth season of Weeds coming to a close, fans hope are already excited for the fifth and final season of the series, which hits television screens in 2009. Meanwhile, the actors and actresses are busy tending to other projects and recently, Justin Kirk, who plays Andy Botwin in the series, spoke to the LA Times to reveal what he has been doing for the past couple of weeks.
“I trucked out to New York for a while, went up to Cape Cod and saw a friend's play, who was one of the writers on Weeds. You know--trying to get a job,” Botwin says. He adds that because this last season of Weeds was short, he was able to work on a few films in between.

We previously reported that Mexican star Demian Bichir will be appearing in the fourth season of Weeds as Nancy Botwin’s (Mary Louise Parker) new love interest. He recently talked to TV Guide about what’s in store for the next season, and how his character will deal with being around Nancy. He revealed that Nancy and his character, Tijuana mayor Esteban Reyes, will have a complex and dynamic relationship, and that viewers will have to tune in to find out where that particular relationship is heading.
As an established actor in his own field, however, Bichir cannot escape comparing himself to the characters he plays. In this instance, however, he says that he has something in common with Esteban, saying that “it's a passion for life. Whatever he's involved, he's not going to go halfway. He's going to go all the way, even if that means he's surrendering, even if he's going to lose. He's not afraid, he's willing to go all the way.”

Popular for her role as Ruth Jamison in the 1991 film Fried Green Tomatoes, Mary Louise Parker is comfortable in playing edgy, sometimes dark roles which eventually earning her Emmy, Tony and Golden Globe awards. In fact, the 43-year-old actress can now be seen in the Showtime series Weeds, in which she plays the struggling housewife-turned-drug dealer, Nancy Botwin. Following the unexpected death of her husband, Nancy enters the illegal drug business to support her suburban family.
In last night’s episode entitled “Yes I Can”, we saw the feisty Nancy as she fought and appealed to the big boss to get her cut in an operation. Meanwhile, her friends Doug (Kevin Nealon) and Andy (Justin Kirk) progress in their human-smuggling mission.

As reported previously, the 44-year-old actor will be appearing on the Showtime series as someone who just might turn out to be Nancy's ideal match when she moves to a rundown seaside California town near the Mexican border.

The folks at Showtime had plenty to be excited about as their panels at the TCA began. Yesterday the network finally broke through at the Emmys to score its first ever nomination for Outstanding Drama Series for Dexter and also saw acting nominations for Michael C. Hall from Dexter and Mary-Louise Parker from Weeds.
While the past year brought ratings records and plenty of awards, Showtime is looking to the future. The network just ordered two more seasons of Weeds following the current one, it's picking up two new comedies starring a pair of top-tier actresses and a potential spin-off for The L Word.

Some critics were skeptical about the big move that the harshly addictive Showtime series Weeds proffered on its fourth season. From the comforts of suburbia, the people behind this hit dramedy decided to move Nancy Botwin, played by Mary Louise Parker, and her drug-dealing ways to somewhere perhaps more liberated – a California beach town near the Baja border.
If unofficial tenets of shows are to be believed, changing the setting is a big no-no, as viewers not only get attached to the characters, they also get comfortably attached to places. But if Weeds is about anything, it's about breaking conventions. And Weeds series creator Jenji Kohan sees something positive on the change; an abundance of new opportunities for Nancy and the other cast members. (Besides, lately, there've been a deluge of suburbia-based shows, such as Breaking Bad, Big Love, and Swingtown.)
