Plans to have Lauralee Bell reprise her role as Christine in time for The Young and the Restless‘ 35th anniversary celebration have now been scrapped.  The 39-year-old actress has turned down the opportunity to return on the long running soap on a recurring basis despite the convincing power of her own mother, Young and the Restless co-creator Lee Phillip Bell, and the pleadings of sister-in-law Maria Arena Bell, the show‘s new co-head writer."I‘ve never been pressured so much in the nicest way than when I was asked to come back," Lauralee Bell told Soap Opera Digest.  Read more »
The Young and the Restless will be playing a part in The CW‘s “ultimate social experiment” as cast members Joshua Morrow (Nicholas Newman) and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers Newman) welcome the hotties and nerds of Beauty and the Geek.Previously on Beauty and the Geek, the newly formed beauty-geek duos were presented with challenges involving love and science.  While the beauties worked on a homemade science project, the geeks offered relationship advice to live callers on Dr. Drew‘s nationally syndicated radio program, Loveline.  At the end of the episode, Jim and Tiffany were eliminated. Read more »
Today marks a very special milestone in Kate Linder‘s acting career as she gets honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  Best known for her role as Esther Valentine on The Young and the Restless, Linder has been with the long running soap since 1982.25 years ago, Linder audition for a one-day role with one line of dialogue on the daytime soap.  After delivering her line, “Dinner is served,” she was asked to come back the next day and then the day after that.  Now, she remains a key member of The Young and the Restless. Read more »

Another music artist is coming to the fictional city of Genoa.  Trace Adkins, country music singer-songwriter, will be making a guest appearance on The Young and the Restless on Friday, May 2. Though Adkins has appeared on a number of television shows, this will be his first time to appear on a soap opera.  On his Young and the Restless stint, the 46-year-old singer will be featured in a storyline in which he will help Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) surprise his wife Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) for their first anniversary. CBS exceeded all networks and The Young and the Restless topped all shows when nominations were announced for the 35th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which will be held on June 20 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. The leading network bagged 56 nominations, with The Young and the Restless earning 17, including a nomination for best daytime drama.  PBS came in second place with 50 nominations, while ABC, which will televise the event, received 39 nominations. Read more »
This week, more guest-stars will be gracing the fictional city of Genoa.  Following the appearance of Diane Salinger as Jamie on Monday‘s episode of The Young and the Restless, two more actors are bound to stir up more drama on the long-running soap. Bart Mccarthy and Ivonne Coll are scheduled to appear on today‘s episode of The Young and the Restless.  Not much has been revealed about their storyline, though according to the network, they will appear as Fred Flinn and Rosa Flinn respectively. Read more »
Ever since the first issue of Restless Style was released, the fashion magazine has been selling like hotcakes in Genoa City.  Now, The Young and the Restless has launched a corresponding online magazine for fans of the long-time soap to enjoy. For those who are not familiar, Restless Style is the brainchild of four people who combined their creative juices to create a fashion and lifestyle magazine.  Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), former CEO of Jabot Cosmetics, was looking for a new outlet for his resources, while Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) had recently left a career in his family‘s business, Newman Enterprises, and was longing for a creative venture.  Another founding member is Nicholas‘ wife, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), a former website expert at both Newman and Jabot Cosmetics. Her contribution was vital in the development Restless Style as both print and online magazine, while Sharon Abbot (Sharon Case) brought her knowledge of the fashion industry and her experience as spokesperson for the "Beauty of Nature" cosmetics line on board as well. Read more »
As we approach the day of Victor (Eric Braeden) and Sabrina‘s (Raya Meddine) wedding, fans can expect more visitors to arrive in Genoa City.  Among those who will drop by is Cynthia Sikes, who has been cast as Sabrina‘s mother, Zara, on The Young and the Restless.According to Soap Opera Digest, Sikes has already started filming her scenes on Tuesday and is set to make her debut on The Young and the Restless on June 19, in time for her daughter‘s wedding to Victor. Read more »
Almost every month, a breakthrough singer graces The Young and the Restless to add zest to a particular storyline and promote some charted hits.  Following the guest appearance of country music singer-songwriter Trace Adkins early last month, another music artist is set to make her debut on the long-running soap.Katy Perry, whose "I Kissed a Girl" music video recently peaked at number 2 on iTunes Top 100, is scheduled to appear on The Young and the Restless on June 12.  According to Soap Opera Digest, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter will be appearing as herself in scenes with Joshua Morrow (Nick), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis), Peter Bergman (Jack) and Sharon Case (Sharon), when she poses for a photo shoot for the second cover of Restless Style. Read more »
Fans have been eagerly waiting to watch soap veteran Finola Hughes, who famously played Anna Devane on General Hospital, in a four-episode story arc on CBS‘ The Young and the Restless as Zara, the flirty, opportunistic mother of Sabrina, played by Raya Meddine.  The character is due to arrive in Genoa City on June 19, just in time for Sabrina‘s wedding to mega-mogul Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).  Unfortunately, that‘s not going to happen anymore. As reported previously, Eva Marcille is making the transition from reality TV star models to daytime drama actress.  The third season winner of America‘s Next Top Model will join the cast of The Young and the Restless on Wednesday, June 25, along with Jamia Simone Nash, who is credited for the film August Rush.Eva Marcille, formerly known as Eva Pigford, will be playing a character named Tyra Hamilton, which is quite a reference to America‘s Next Top Model host Tyra Banks.  She‘ll be serving as the aunt of Devon (Bryton McClure) and a single mother to daughter Ana, played by Jamia Simone Nash.  Devon will reportedly be reunited with them at Lily‘s (Christel Khalil) 21st birthday party. Read more »
The 35th annual Daytime Emmy Awards are scheduled to air tonight at 8pm on ABC. Daytime regulars Cameron Mathison (All My Children) and Sherri Shepherd (The View) will act as master and mistress of ceremonies.Mathison will be wearing a tuxedo by Arnold Brant, and Shepherd will sport gowns by Badgley Mishka and Angela Dean and jewelry by Chopard.The list of nominations was announced on Wednesday, April 30 with CBS, in particular The Young and the Restless, nabbed the most noms: 56 and 17, respectively. Read more »
Although The Young and the Restless nabbed the most nominations, the long-running series didn’t turn out as the night’s big winner at the 35th Annual Daytime Emmys held last Friday in Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre.  Instead the award for Best Drama went to General Hospital, which turned 45 this year.  Additionally, the award for Best Lead Actor went to General Hospital actor Anthony Geary, who is noted for his role as Luke Spencer. The much-awaited event, which was hosted by All My Children’s Cameron Mathison and The View’s Sherri Shepherd, received a makeover this year with a Golden Globes style seating arrangement and digital cameras installed on the tables, putting viewers literally in the audience. Read more »
On The Young and the Restless, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) is a “man who is an island" until his family gradually entered Genoa City, and became his biggest nuisance.  In 2003, he was shocked when his half-brother Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) arrived after landing in a heap of legal trouble.  To help Kevin get a fresh start, Michael allowed him to stay with him.  They were soon joined by their mother Gloria, who was then played by Joan Van Ark and now portrayed by Judith Chapman.In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Christian LeBlanc talks about what it‘s like for his character to be part of the wacky Baldwin/Fisher clan. Read more »
After a year and a half of playing David Chow on CBS‘ The Young and the Restless, Vincent Irizarry has decided to leave the long-running soap.  While the network has yet to issue a statement about Irizarry‘s exit, a concise message on the actor‘s official My Space site confirms that "Vincent will be leaving the show."Irizarry got his start in daytime television in 1983 as Brandon/Lujack Luvonaczek on Guiding Light.  He was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in 1985, but lost to future All My Children co-star Michael E. Knight.  He then originated the role of Dr. David Hayward in 1997 on the soap opera All My Children, a role he played after almost 10 years until he was let go due to a lack of storyline. Read more »
Eva Pigford, winner of the third cycle of America‘s Next Top Model and the first African-American contestant to win the program, has made a transition from reality TV star to dramatic daytime television actress.  Now known as Eva Marcille, the 23-year-old model is presently savoring her role on The Young and the Restless, where she made her debut on June 25.On The Young and the Restless, Marcille plays a character named Tyra Hamilton, which is quite a reference to America‘s Next Top Model host Tyra Banks.  Tyra arrived in Genoa City with her daughter Ana (Jamia Simone Nash) during Lily Winters‘ (Christel Khalil) birthday party to surprise her sister‘s son Devon (Bryton McClure). Read more »
By now, daytime fans have already gotten used to Sabrina Costelana Newman, who joined The Young and the Restless earlier this year.  But it seems that viewers will have to accept the fact that her portrayer, Raya Meddine, will soon bid farewell to the CBS long-running soap. Meddine first appeared on The Young and the Restless in February as the best friend of Victor Newman‘s (Eric Braeden) daughter, Victoria (Amelia Heinle). Her character Sabrina initially came to Genoa City to check in on Victoria, who had just come out of a months-long coma.  Although she planned on making a new beginning in New York City as a Consulting Private Curator, she stayed in Genoa as she fell in love with Victor, who eventually married her. Read more »

Bell and Lee Phillip Bell have always focused on the fictional version of Genoa City, Wisconsin, a town near their annual vacation home in Lake Geneva, for their daytime drama series The Young and the Restless.  Soon, however, they‘ll be presenting viewers with a change of scenery as they bring the show to Paris, France.The Young and the Restless will be shooting in Paris for the soap‘s first-ever, on-location shoot in the City of Lights, in line with the program‘s upcoming 20th anniversary in France.  And while the specific actors participating in the Parisian storyline are yet to be confirmed, the week of filming is scheduled for October this year. Read more »
Since 2007, Billy Miller has been portraying bad boy Richie Novak on All My Children.  Now, he‘s ready to make his mark on yet another soap.  According to Soaps.com, the 28-year-old actor will soon be heading to The Young and the Restless to play the often recast Billy Abbott.The son of diva Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) and deceased John Abbott (Jerry Douglas), Billy Abbot was first played by David Tom in 1999.  For his portrayal of the role, Tom won an Emmy Award in 2000.  When Tom decided to leave The Young and Restless in 2002, Ryan Brown took over the character, though he only stayed until 2003.  Then Scott Seymour was cast as the third actor to portray Billy Abbot but he only lingered on the series for a few months during the end of 2006. Read more »

As Phyllis on The Young and the Restless, Michelle Stafford has often been described as a "home-wrecker."  In real life, however, the 42-year-old actress is quite the opposite.  In fact, she has been lending her name to a good cause, particularly to Project Cuddle, an organization that helps troubled pregnant women and saves abandoned babies. Stafford met the organization‘s founder, Debbe Magnusen, at a party and since then, the Young and the Restless actress has been introducing her to legislators with the Citizens Commission on Human Rights and has been working with her on various fund-raising events. Read more »

Elizabeth Hendrickson has been in a recurring role on The Young and the Restless since February but her character was recently upgraded as she was thrust into a front burner storyline with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard), not to mention the revelation that she was actually the daughter of longtime character Esther Valentine (Kate Linder), the maid at the Chancellor mansion."It‘s true," Hendrickson told the New York Daily News of her character‘s shocking storyline that aired late August.  "Chloe is really Kate, Esther‘s daughter.  She hasn‘t seen Esther this whole time, and has never been to the Chancellor mansion.  [Cane‘s mother] Jill was going to throw them an engagement party, but Chloe got out of that by saying, ‘Let‘s elope.‘" Read more »
Eyal Podell, who is best known for playing Professor Adrian Korbel on The Young and the Restless, has been cut from the soap‘s cast.  The 32-year-old Israeli-born American actor has seen his airtime diminishing in recent weeks and now, it is uncertain if he will ever resurface again. Jeanne Cooper is best known for her role on The Young and the Restless as Katherine Chancellor, who is widely considered as the matriarch and wealthy pillar of Genoa City. Word on the street, however, is that she‘ll soon be wreaking havoc on Genoa City as she plays her character‘s evil double.Back in 1990, Cooper played Marge Catrooke, Kay‘s look-alike who was a waitress with dubious morals.  Clint Radison (James Michael Gregary) found and brought Marge to Genoa City in an attempt to take over all that the Chancellor name had to offer.  According to TV Guide, Marge will be making yet another appearance on The Young and the Restless after 18 years since we last saw her. Read more »

After spending the last few years working with refugees in Africa with the Doctors Without Borders Organization, Dr. Olivia Winters is slated to return temporarily to Genoa City to pick up the pieces in her family‘s life.  In line with this, Tonya Lee Williams, the actress who originated the role in May 1990, has signed on to appear on The Young and the Restless.During her time on The Young and the Restless, Olivia was perceived as an honest and principled woman.  However, she had a lapse in judgment when her best friend, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), battled breast cancer.  At the time, Olivia tried her best to be there for Ashley and her family, but eventually found herself attracted to Ashley‘s husband, Brad Carlton (Don Diamont).  The two slept together, but nothing became of it.  Since then, Olivia gradually faded into the background.  She left the show in September 2005 but resurfaced in Genoa to comfort her brother-in-law Neil Winters, when her sister Drucilla died in 2007. Read more »

CBS is on the look out for one talented actress who will be selected to travel to Hollywood and appear in an episode of The Young and the Restless.  In line with this, the show is holding a screen test at the Ritz-Carlton in St. Louis, Missouri to accommodate hopefuls who would want to get a taste of the limelight while working with some of residents of Genoa City. Women 18 to 35 years old and eligible to work in the United States are invited on Friday, November 14 in an open casting call staring at 9am until 4:30pm. Since 2005, Erin Sanders has played Quinn Pensky, the resident science geek at Pacific Coast Academy, on the Emmy-nominated TV show Zoey 101.  During her stint on the teen series, she has been nominated a 2005 Women‘s Image Network Award for her performance in the episode "Quinn‘s Date," and has earned, along with the rest of the Zoey cast, a 2006 and 2007 Young Artist Awards for Best Young Ensemble Performance in a TV Series. Recently, she went beyond the confines of Nickelodeon to join the cast of The Young and the Restless as Eden Baldwin.Playing River‘s (Michael Gross) rebellious teenage daughter is quite far from her role on Zoey 101.  But Sanders seems to be enjoying her life on the soap opera world. Read more »
After only a few episodes credited to the young actress, Erin Sanders has departed from the set of The Young and the Restless.  She was best known for her geeky persona on the Emmy-nominated Zoey 101 and it seemed as though she couldn’t hold on to a more serious role on the daytime drama.  Leaving her Nickelodeon show was a big decision, and it was an even heavier choice to leave The Young and the Restless.  Playing the rebellious Eden Baldwin on the said soap opera appeared to be a challenging feat for the budding actress.  Sanders probably wasn’t a good fit for the role, but it was the fans who had difficulties sympathizing with the character.  This led to the part being recast. Read more »

Last month, a rumor surfaced that a former Guiding Light star might be headed to Port Charles to play a still uncertain yet pivotal role on General Hospital.  At the time, the actor was said to be Tom Pelphrey, best known for his role as Jonathan Randall, the son of Reva Shayne and her late former husband, Richard Winslow, on the CBS soap opera.  Recently, however, another soap actor has been rumored to play the much talked about role on General Hospital and he comes in the form of Emmy winner David Lago. The former star of The Young and the Restless is said to have landed the role of Dante, Sonny‘s son with Olivia.  On the other hand, a General Hospital spokesperson had no comment so at this point, there‘s no confirmation on the said character or the actor who‘s been cast to play the role. Read more »
Yesterday‘s episode of The Young and the Restless has set some sort of TV record.  Paul, portrayed by Doug Davidson, and Nikki, played by Melody Thomas Scott, finally had sex 30 years after the character last slept together.  The unexpected reunion occurred after Nikki stood up to Victor (Eric Braeden) for blaming her for the notebook being in Genoa City.  Shortly after, Paul offered Nikki a place to stay while she copes with the “death” of her best friend Kay (Jeanne Cooper) and recovers from her relationship with Victor.  Eventually, the two reminisced about the past, fell into a passionate kiss and the basked in the afterglow of their lovemaking. Read more »
