Fans of The X-Files may remember that FBI agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) had a poster that read, "I Want to Believe" on his basement office wall where he and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) worked. Based on this, FOX has finally named the second big screen installment of the science fiction drama The X-Files: I Want to Believe, which is expected to hit theaters on July 25.
X-Files creator Chris Carter, who also serves as the movie director and co-writer, describes the “I Want to Believe” phrase as a “natural title” for the film.
"It's a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science. 'I Want to Believe.' It really does suggest Mulder's struggle with his faith," Carter said.

Gillian Anderson was best known for her role on The X-Files. As special agent Dana Katherine Scully, she worked out of a cramped basement office at FBI headquarters to explore unsolved cases with partner special agent Fox William "Spooky" Mulder. Unlike her FBI partner, she was depicted to be more skeptical in the supernatural, and believed on what science can prove. She won an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her outstanding performance on the award-winning series.

David Duchovny drew massive attention for his role as Fox William "Spooky" Mulder on the science fiction series The X-Files. He portrayed a FBI special agent who believed in UFOs and government conspiracies, and focused on mysterious unsolved cases with his FBI partner and closest friend, Dana Scully. Distinctly known for his sardonic sense of humor, he established a trademark with his dry jokes even in the face of the most bizarre and dangerous incidents. Apart from his cynical persona, he was most known for his porn habits, which were recurrently perceived as a joke on throughout the series.
