The Wire is a sprawling urban police drama, set in the mean streets of a drug-riddled Baltimore where the cycle of misery and poverty is hopeless and detectives do their best to stay ahead and grapple with the situation they're given. The Wire has the benefit of being on HBO and can, as a result, be as graphic in nature as it wants to be.
