'The View' Announces Daytime Emmy Nominations

General Hospital's Anthony GearyThis morning on The View, the hosts announced the nominees for the 35th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards.  Stars from All My Children, Days of our Lives, One Life To Live, Guiding Light, and As the World Turns were on hand to present the nominations.  Noticeably missing from the morning's festivities were cast members from General Hospital, who were overlooked in several of the acting categories.  The View scored a nomination for Outstanding Talk Show Hosts, among others.  The Daytime Emmy Awards will air June 20th on ABC at 8pm ET from Hollywood's Kodak Theater.  At the ceremony, Regis Philbin will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

'The View' Returns with Guest Star Danny DeVito

the viewThe View returns live today, September 4 at 11am ET.  Co-hosts Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and award-winning actress-comedian Whoopi Goldberg, the highly anticipated new addition to the multiple award-winning program, kickoff season 11 with special guest star Danny DeVito.

DeVito, who serves as Goldberg's first guest on The View, made headlines over his appearance on the show last November to promote his movie Deck the Halls.  His interview became controversial, however, when he told incoherent stories to the amusement of the audience about his night of drinking with friend George Clooney.

View creator and host Barbara Walters is hoping to perk up the program’s ratings by inviting Trump’s daughter to join as a regular host.  However, the businesswoman turned reality TV star has turned down the chance to replace her father’s foe.

the viewSince Rosie O’Donnell left The View in May, many fans and media outlets have aired their suggested and favored celebrities that might possibly fill in the vacant hosting spot. However, according to People magazine, producers of the ABC award winning talk show are currently contemplating on two gay men for future co-hosts.

Originally consisting of an all-female panel, The View is now reportedly considering Mario Cantone, 47, and Ross Mathews, 27, as strong contenders who could be joining Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Cantone, who played wedding planner Anthony Marantino on Sex and the City, and Mathews, known as “Ross the Intern” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, will both appear as a guest co-host on July 12 and July 17 respectively.

Ex The View co-host Rosie O'DonnellIt was reported earlier that former The View co-host Rosie O’Donnell expressed her desire to become the next host of the long-running game show The Price is Right, saying in a video posted in her website that she had been pleading with the show “on a daily basis” and that she “still sends them emails everyday.”

However, after meeting with the producers of the show last week, O’Donnell has decided not to pursue the hosting job, mainly because it would require her to relocate, an issue that was also left unanswered in previous reports.

Former The View co-host Rosie O'Donnell Rosie O’Donnell may have left the all-female morning talk show, The View, but her departure does not mean that her work in daytime television has come to an end.

According to the 45-year-old’s personal blog, there is a good chance that she will get to take over hosting duties of the long-running game show, The Price is Right. Friday's episode of the show signaled the end of host Bob Barker's 35-year run.
