It's official. UFC and SpikeTV announced today that season 6 of The Ultimate Fighter will feature Team Serra against Team Hughes. This amounts to current Welterweight Champion Matt Serra leading his team of Ultimate Fighting hopefuls against past champion Hughes' team. In what has become a prevailing theme of The Ultimate Fighter, a future match between the coaches has already been booked for November, 2007.

The Ultimate Fighter has become a gem among the typical dredge of reality television. Smartly conceived, well-produced and playing completely to the large UFC fan base, The Ultimate Fighter brings it's SpikeTV viewers an eclectic collection of cast members every season. This is ultimately what makes the show tick; the clashing of personalities is a reality show staple, but on The Ultimate Fighter the personalities get to enter the octagon and fight each other. As each season passes, a number of contestants fade from the public eye for one reason or another, sometimes never to be seen again. What has happened to your favorite Ultimate Fighter contestant? After last week's drama when Jeremy Jackson was booted after he broke the rules by sneaking out of the house to hook up with a lifeguard, this week Shonie Carter's clowning around put him in the spotlight. At least, the spotlight outside the octagon.

The Ultimate Fighter 4
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is, if you haven't heard, taking over the world. Well, maybe not the whole world, but the sports world for sure. At the very least the UFC is swiftly stealing away professional boxing's former audience. The Ultimate Fighter 4 is a reality show that acts as two separate 8-man tournaments, one for welterweights and one for middleweights. The beauty of The Ultimate Fighter is that, for an hour-long show, almost half the episode is always dedicated to that week's fight. It's a perfect second-tier reality show; the drama of different personalities living in the same house followed by a full-fledged octagon UFC match.

It's only been two episodes, yet I believe I've heard an off-camera Matt Serra yell, "Hamm-ah Fist Elbow" about 8,000 times. If you don't like blood this is not the episode for you.
Team Mojo has good team chemistry and are feeling confident after stealing the power with Shonie's episode one victory. Over a couple fire-pit meetings, Mojo gameplans the rest of the first round, creating match-ups they think they'll win.

Shonie Carter can fight. When you are a veteran of over two hundred fight worldwide, you don't need be in shape. Especially if you're fighting a guy named Rich.
The first episode of THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER 4: THE COMEBACK gets right down to business. Dana White, President of UFC and host of this year's show, explains the concept behind season 4: Instead of bringing in new-comers, TUF 4 will focus on quality, veteran fighters who, for some reason or another, have been successful in MMA fighting yet have never fought in a title bout. Hence, The Comeback. The winner of each weight class (welterweight and middleweight) receives a title fight and $100,000. Easy enough, right.
