Over the years, many celebrities have graced the small town of Alert Bay, British Columbia. However, it hasn't experienced such a widespread commotion sparked by the arrival of Oprah Winfrey.
The award-winning host of The Oprah Winfrey Show is considered to be one of the most famous women in U.S. history, recently topping the power list of Forbes and ranking number 1 on the roster of highest earning celebrities. Given her popularity, news spread like wildfire when the residents of Alert Bay learned that she was in town last Friday.

It's been a little more than a year since James Frey's disputed memoir A Million Little Pieces sparked tension on The Oprah Winfrey Show but the controversy surrounding Winfrey's nationally televised pillorying of the author remains until now.
A Million Little Pieces, which tells the story of a 23-year-old alcoholic and drug abuser and how he copes with rehabilitation in a 12 steps oriented treatment center, became a bestseller after the award-winning host of The Oprah Winfrey Show chose it for her book club in 2005. It even became the number one paperback non-fiction book on the New York Times best seller list for 15 straight weeks, as well as the number 1 book on Amazon.com. Frey later revealed that the memoir contained numerous fictitious elements that prompted Winfrey, who initially defended the author, to denounce him in person on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Oprah Winfrey has already proven her power when she recently conquered Forbes' annual “Celebrity 100 Power List” as the most influential celebrity in the world. Moreover, she is also hailed as the highest paid talent on television in the United States.
According to TV Guide magazine's July 23 issue, the award-winning host of The Oprah Winfrey Show receives a salary of $260 million a year just to do her acclaimed daily talk show, taking home more than five times the earnings of American Idol's notorious host Simon Cowell, who earns $45 million.

Despite her distress and grief over the loss of her beloved Golden Retriever Gracie, Oprah Winfrey, award-winning host of The Oprah Winfrey Show, learned a valuable lesson. In the August issue of O, The Oprah Magazine, which hit newsstands Tuesday, she recounted the painful tragedy that remains etched in her heart until today.
"I don't believe in accidents," Oprah Winfrey wrote. "I know for sure that everything in life happens to help us live."

On Thursday, July 12, The Oprah Winfrey Show will be graced with the presence of NFL player Isaiah Kacyvenski. However, the St. Louis Rams outside linebacker will not be talking about his pro career. In fact, he will be opening up to Oprah Winfrey about his difficult past.
Isaiah Kacyvenski, a 29-year old native of Syracuse, New York, played seven years with the Seattle Seahawks with a record of 267 tackles in 90 games. In 2006, he signed a one-year deal with St.Louis Rams as the team’s outside linebacker.

After launching her own talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, forming her book club, publishing two magazines, and establishing a radio channel, Oprah Winfrey is finally opening her own store. The award-winning host will be adding a fashion boutique to her domain. As confirmed by her spokeswoman, the boutique will be located near Harpo Studios in Carpenter Street, where The Oprah Winfrey Show is filmed in Chicago, Illinois.
The 53-year-old native of Kosciusko, Mississippi, has been in the entertainment business for more than two decades now. However, this is the first time Oprah Winfrey will be penetrating such an endeavor. Currently, viewers are only able to but her merchandise with her logo such as beach totes, coffee mugs and baskets through her website.

Oprah Winfrey, host of The Oprah Winfrey Show, will reportedly voice a part in the upcoming Bee Movie.
This wasn’t the first time Winfrey tapped the world of animated and computer-generated movies. Previously, she provided the voice of Coretta Scott King in the family drama Our Friend, Martin, served as Gussy the Goose in he comedy-drama Charlotte’s Web and voiced Elizabeth Keckley in the biopic Lincoln.

Oprah Winfrey, host of the award-winning talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show, has yet another project that will hit the theaters next year. The Great Debaters, in which she serves as a producer, is a drama starring and directed by Denzel Washington.
The upcoming movie isn’t Winfrey’s first work as a producer. Apart from hosting The Oprah Winfrey Show, she also serves as the talk show’s producer, as well as on shows and films like Before Women Had Wings, The Women of Brewster Place, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Amy & Isabelle, Tuesdays with Morrie, and Building a Dream: The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy just to name a few.
