The third season of Glee premieres Tuesday at 8pm on FOX, and to prepare for it co-creator Ryan Murphy spoke to reporters Thursday night and revealed what roles the contestants from The Glee Project will play. The Oxygen reality competition had two winners, Damian McGinty and Samuel Larsen, who will both have seven-episode guest arcs in season 3, while runners-up Lindsay Pearce and Alex Newell will each appear for at least two episodes.  Read more »
The two winners of The Glee Project, adorable Irish lad Damian McGinty and dreadlocked heartthrob-in-training Samuel Larsen, are ready to take center stage on Glee. The show‘s upcoming third season will feature both of them for at least seven episodes, but when can we expect them to show up?  Read more »
The finale of The Glee Project, much like Glee itself, made everyone feel like a winner. Dreadlocked heartthrob Samuel Larsen and adorable Irishman Damian McGinty were named co-winners, both earning seven-episode guest roles on Glee‘s third season, while runners-up Alex Newell and Lindsay Pearce also got two-episode guest arcs as a consolation prize.  Read more »
It‘s the finale of The Glee Project, which means one of the final four contestants wins and gets a 7-episode guest starring role on Glee‘s third season. Or does it? On Glee, it‘s all about shocking outcomes and triumph over adversity, so would it really be fair if three people came so close and got nothing? No, and that‘s why The Glee Project finale is going to make everyone happy.  Read more »
Well, here we are -- in the neverending quest to add more students to McKinley High, we have reached the finale of The Glee Project. Sure, not all of us were into it, and some of us who were are left a bit disappointed (why, oh why, oh why did Ryan Murphy eliminate all but one lady?) but the four gleeky wannabes that remain aren‘t so bad. And at least one of them will appear on at least seven episodes of Glee season 3, so it‘s our duty to welcome them with open arms. And since we‘re an imaginative bunch, as proven by last week‘s Gleeks React, we thought of asking you this: what role would be perfect for The Glee Project‘s final four? You answered via Twitter and Facebook, and we have the best of your responses. And then some. Read more »
This week on The Glee Project we prepare for the finale by trimming one last contestant. It‘s all about generosity in the music video, and at the end of the day, Glee co-creators Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan are feeling especially generous in the elimination. In the homework assignment, Kevin McHale names Lindsay the winner and even gives her the Magic Comb from Glee. That‘s awesome and wins the award for the best prop of the night. The worst prop goes to Samuels‘ annoying hot pink choreography rehearsal shorts. Seriously, in what universe is that not a horrible idea?  Read more »
This week The Glee Project is all about believability, and I guess that‘s code for "drama." Yes, even though Glee is allegedly a comedy, this week is all about being dramatic and serious, which is the one thing I‘d like to see a lot less of n season 3, so I don‘t really care about this challenge.  Read more »
Glee season 3 is getting underway, and with six new writers and the winner of Oxygen‘s The Glee Project joining the cast for at least seven episodes, there are some big changes going on. Recently creator Ryan Murphy has done interviews with The Hollywood Reporter and TVGuide to talk about what‘s coming up in season 3, and while he doesn‘t offer too many specifics, there‘s a lot of info to sort through.  Read more »
This week The Glee Project is all about sexuality, which leads to a lot of awkward moments. It‘s perfectly suited for someone like Samuel, whose sultry gazes and pretty boy looks already make him ready-made for a teenage girl‘s high school locker. But most of the other contestants have issues with acting, singing and being sexy. Throw in a music video that looks like a low-budget sexless porno and it‘s the most uncomfortable episode to watch. But on top of sexuality, we also get a big surprise finish as one of the contestants quits the show over Ryan Murphy‘s objections.  Read more »
This week the kids of The Glee Project get slushied! Everyone is excited about, except for Diva Alex, who doesn‘t want to get his face all messed up. If slushies aren‘t cool enough, the music video is a mash-up of "Under Pressure" and "Ice, Ice Baby," which makes me giddy because mash-ups are my favorite thing about Glee. The song and the video are among my favorites from the entire season because it‘s just non-stop slushies for two and-a-half minutes though in the weirdest part, the first shot is of Samuel turning around from the urinal in the bathroom. Can‘t a dude pee without getting slushied?  Read more »
It‘s time to duet on The Glee Project as the week‘s theme is the made-up word "pairability." Darren Criss is back to mentor. In the homework challenge, Matheus and Alex are definitely the odd couple, while Marissa steals the show and wins with uncomfortable partner Cameron. Then the original pairs get broken up for new couples to do separate due music videos.  Read more »
This week The Glee Project is all about dancing with guest star Harry Shum, Jr. (Mike Chang from Glee). The result is an odd episode because the producers always say that you don‘t need to be able to dance to be on Glee, but the problem is that if you can‘t dance, it‘s harder to act confident during a dance challenge.  Read more »

This week The Glee Project pulls a 180, going from over-the-topTheatricality to the understated and emotional Vulnerability. The kidsare asked to expose their deepest insecurities, wearing them during thevideo shoot for "Mad World," and some of them shine while others relyon the most obvious clichés they can think of.  Read more »
This week The Glee Project is all about theatricality, takingover the spotlight. With a Gaga challenge and a rock star music video, there are a lot of chances to be big, but some of the kids strugglewith their insecurities. There‘s also a lot of cattiness from the girlsas Lindsay continues her crusade to be the show‘s villain.  Read more »

Every Monday I‘ll try to help the writers out by giving my two cents about what role one of the breakout stars of The Glee Project should play. The winner in week 2 is Alex, the openly gay guy with a high-pitched voice that could rival Chris Colfer. He definitely stands out in a crowd and has theatricality, but how would he fit into the world of Glee?  Read more »

I thought Oxygen‘s new reality series, The Glee Project, would bring in strong ratings with its Sunday premiere, but I was wrong. The show‘s launch was watched by less than half a million viewers, a very unimpressive start to the show that will give on lucky constant a seven-episode guest role on the hit FOX series Glee, which averaged over 10 million viewers in its second season.  Read more »
There‘s something special about the new Oxygen reality series, The Glee Project. It‘s not just another show where people are cutthroat and ruthless towin a big cash prize. Instead, the kids are real underdogs competing toget a seven-episode role on Glee‘s third season. That‘s aspecial prize because it could make someone a star like it did forChord Overstreet or Darren Criss, and the true spirit of Glee (the one that I found lacking in the show‘s dreary, overly dramatic second season), is here.  Read more »

If I could only watch one reality show this summer, it would be Oxygen‘s The Glee Project, premiering Sunday at 9pm (with a casting special at 8pm). While I‘ve been down on Glee during the second season, the promise of some new blood coming to McKinley is just what the doctor ordered. Plus, The Glee Project has one of the coolest prizes in reality show history. The winner will get a recurring role on the show‘s upcoming third season. So really, watching The Glee Project is like watching a prequel to Glee, finding the next breakout star. Season 2 won me over by adding Chord Overstreet as Sam, so hopefully the winner will bring that same level of greatness.  Read more »
Today the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the NAACP both announced their annual awards nominations. While there are several gay and African-American characters on TV, these awards usually highlight the lack of diversity by picking out such obscure nominees. The effect only emphasizes how few roles for African-Americans there really are on mainstream television.  Read more »
