What a follow-up to The Following premiere. It was a shocking hour of reveals and manipulations. And, what about those Poe masks? Freaky! "Chapter Two" provided background on the relationships between Ryan and Claire, as well as, between Emma and Jacob. The Following "Poet‘s Fire" jumps back in time to show us the first meeting between Ryan and Joe. Unlike their various meetings at the prison, this one looks to fairly pleasant. The Following has proved to be a unique thriller that doesn‘t let up for a moment. On most cop or FBI-led shows, the detectives or agents have the upper hand on the bad guys. They investigate, find clues, and then solve the case. In most instances, that‘s done in an hour. Read more »

On The Following, the search for Joey took a positive turn when he called his mother and then escaped to get help from a neighbor in "The Siege." The newly deputized Ryan Hardy was determined to find Claire‘s son and bring down Joe‘s followers. He even asked to talk to Claire about their relationship when this was all over. On The Following, Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) has been many steps ahead of the FBI. Shows with occult or mystical themes such as The Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf and the aptly titled Supernatural have been delivering thrills for years. However, the story lines tends to be melodramatic or rely on a fictional mythology.For people who like their horror a little gorier and a tad grittier used to be restricted to premium channels; for example, HBO‘s True Blood and Showtime‘s hit Dexter. However, the days of padded cable bills or waiting a year or longer for a DVD release in order to be horrified are coming to an end. Read more »

The situation moved in a new direction on The Following, Agent Parker and Ryan Hardy got reamed by higher ups at the FBI for the lack of progress on the Joe Carroll case. Despite all that they have done, the case was kicked to DC. In "Love Hurts," Ryan once again became the focal point of Joe‘s plan. Read more »

On the last episode of The Following, Claire willingly went with Roderick to be reunited with Joey. The cost is that she will also have to come face-to-face with her ex-husband again. Does he love her enough to keep her safe? Or, will he cause Claire harm? While the Carroll family is reunited, the FBI investigates the lead they found from Charlie‘s emails. The Following moved away from the direct search for Joe, Claire and Joey to instead focus on the push and pull between people in Joe‘s cult and outside of it. In "Whips and Regrets," people‘s needs were revealed no matter how depraved. And, Parker pulled Ryan out of his drunken stupor to return to the investigation. Read more »
On The Following, tension grows as Joe begins to struggle with his quest for success, while the relationships within the Follower House continue to be strained. Are Joe and Ryan that different on The Following? In "The Curse," Joe believes that they aren‘t and he doesn‘t even know the whole story. The basis for Ryan‘s obsession with his "death curse" was finally revealed through flashbacks and it explains his life‘s choices and his inability to get close to anyone.  Read more »
Could the FBI finally make a big break on the case after being continually thwarted by Joe and his Followers? On last week‘s The Following, Roderick inserted himself into the investigation and on "Havenport" that ends up being a mistake. After a few episodes that didn‘t move the story forward much, The Following turned things around in "Havenport." It was suspenseful and unpredictable. Through Joe‘s arrogance and his ill-advised use of his Followers, Joe was put into reactive mode on multiple levels for the first time since he escaped from prison. When the FBI finally got a big win by capturing Roderick and then rescuing Joey, Joe was forced to change up his plans both in the Follower House and against Ryan Hardy. Read more »

On The Following, Emma (Valorie Curry) has been through a lot in her young life. She may have killed her own mother, but she found love and family through her relationship with Jacob and living with Claire and Joey.
