Hearts will race in many ways on the upcoming episode of The Closer, as Brenda and the gang will draw the season a close with the finale, “Time Bomb.” Airing tonight, another case is left to solve and it seems to be one of the squad's most dangerous yet.
“Time Bomb” features Brenda's newly-renamed Major Crimes Division, or the MCD, investigating the death of a teenager. This is no ordinary homicide, as the adolescent's demise might be linked to a highly organized plan to slaughter hundreds of innocents. While the teen's death is still being studied, the crew has to deal with an even worse problem. They have to beat the clock in order to track down a bomb before it can explode. Through Brenda (Kyra Sedgwick) and her recklessly effective acts of heroism, the team is reminded that being on the LAPD can sometimes be a road to immense peril.

TNT’s hit series The Closer has been looked upon for a potential spin-off. The network has decided to further milk the successful cop drama by getting creator and executive producer James Duff to spawn a new series based on The Closer, which stars Kyra Sedgewick as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, a skilled detective and officer at the Priority Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The yet-untitled spin-off is currently code named The Fixer, and is being co-written by The Closer co-executive producer Adam Belanoff and Michael Berchem. However, it is still unclear whether the spin-off will focus on an existing Closer character, or an entirely different individual. Nonetheless, TNT confirmed that they have ordered a script, without disclosing any more details. Additionally, Greer Shephard and Michael Robin will executively produce the yet-untitled new show.

Brenda Leigh Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick) will once again be dropping the bomb on a suspect on tonight's episode of The Closer. After last week's case that didn't allow her to escape conflicts with her squad, Brenda has to once more try to take control. In “Live Wire,” she grapples with Fritz over the case, wherein a man is shot to death while wearing a surveillance wire.
Downtown Los Angeles remains unsafe, as another installment of Brenda's life takes its toll. Fans of the Brenda and Fritz (Jon Tenney) pairing might be having a bit of a fit upon seeing the increased tension between the two. Other than their usual bickering, they have to face clashes related to their work. The disagreements escalate, especially since both are truly devoted to their careers. The only thing that could make things worse between them is the distractions they have to face, in the form of an L.A. journalist and the victim's past.

As The Closer premiered its fourth installment, the TNT drama remained the most popular series on cable television, drawing 7.8 million viewers on Monday. Despite a decline of 1 million viewers from its stunning 8.8 million season 3 premiere, it still beat the competition by some huge margins.
The series, which stars Kyra Sedgwick as a Los Angeles investigator, is still the most popular show this year on ad-supported cable.

Those who at least had a sneak peek at the fourth season premiere of The Closer all agreed on one thing: if you're a fan of The Closer, you are going to absolutely go crazy over the premiere. As if that wasn't enough motivation to watch the TNT drama, an old foe of Brenda Lei Johnson, who is superbly played by Kyra Sedgwick, is said to be doing a return.
If last season looked closely at Brenda and Fritz Howard (Jon Tenney) as they moved forward with their engagement, which entailed revealing the good news to Brenda's family and searching for a new house, The Closer's fourth season is said to bring back the comfort in the series, as the team is back together.

Kyra Sedgwick, who plays the enigmatic Brenda Johnson, deputy police chief of the LAPD on TNT's The Closer , says she is nowhere near leaving the show, despite the amount of effort it takes to leave her family for six months to shoot a season.
"I feel like I've literally given away parts of my heart and soul to her," she says. "I make deep sacrifices to play her, but she's dear to me and I adore her and she does take over when I'm at work. It's an interesting out-of-body experience that I've never had before."

When The Closer returns for a fourth season next month, the crime drama series will be featuring a bunch of guest stars to look forward to. One of which is Paul Michael Glaser, who has been tapped to appear in the second episode of the season airing July 21.
Glaser is best known for his role as Detective David Starsky on the '70s television series Starsky and Hutch. John Kubicek ranked The Closer 7th. He says...
I can explain why The Closer is one of the best shows on TV: Kyra Sedgwick. Television is full of procedural cop dramas in which the police solve the case by the end of every, but what makes TNT's The Closer the best of breed is Sedgwick's funny, serious, brilliant performance as Brenda Lee Johnson, an Atlanta woman who finds herself heading up Priority Homicide in te LAPD.
