Fall 2006 New Shows Rank: #14
Gist of the Show:
A group of twenty-somethings who attended third grade together (hence, The Class) are suddenly reunited.
Cast Member Looking To Reclaim Former Glory:
Co-creator David Crane, who also co-created “Friends"
Similar in Theme to:
"The Breakfast Club", in that the characters on The Class have no existing relationships of substance when the series begins. They will not be similar in quality.
Time Slot Competition:
Deal or No Deal, Prison Break
Likelihood of Second Season:
64%...it has a good time slot, leading into the hit How I Met Your Mother.
Final Word:
The first couple episodes of The Class have been poorly reviewed by critics, yet there is some buzz surrounding the show. It's clear CBS wants the show to be big and, like Crane's last show “Friends", these type of ensemble comedies take some time to hit their strides. The cast is attractive and fresh, and if viewers are patient, The Class could be a sleeper.
