The 4400 debuted its fourth season with slightly more viewers than its overall average last season, but nearly half as many that tuned in for the season three premiere. Season three brought a healthy 4.2 million viewers, while Sunday’s premiere brought in 2.5 million. This could mean that The 4400 has just boiled down to its hard core audience, but fans and network execs alike will be watching the trends with trepidation as the weeks pass. As far as the premiere itself, it marked a return to The 4400 at its best.

The 4400 returns June 17ths to pick up where it left off, knee deep in the Promicin conspiracy. For the un-indoctrinated, Promicin gives normal folks the special abilities formerly seen only in the 4400; half of the people at least, the other half don’t fare quite as well. The 4400 is part of USA’s returning summer line up, looking to snag network TV stragglers wandering the airwaves looking for something other than repeats.

The 4400’s fourth season premieres on June 17. This season’s 13-episode story arc features the general public (non-4400s) being given access to the drug Promicin, which will either give them 4400-like powers – or kill them.
Billy Campbell will now be a series regular as Jordan Collier. Jenni Baird joins the cast as Meghan, the new head of NTAC.
The USA Network is launching a series of websites to go along with this season’s plot, which feature videos of the main characters and other unique characters not seen on the series, as they work for and against the release of Promicin to the public. Fans are invited to upload their own videos and create characters to use in an interactive storyline.
