MTV has a string of projects underway for the summer and fall seasons, including a half-hour scripted comedy series from Wilmer Valderrama. Best known for his exchange student role as Fez on That '70s Show, the 28-year-old actor has had a long-standing relationship with MTV as he created, executive produced and hosted the network's trash-talking competition program, Yo Momma. Now, he will once again attempt to turn a pilot into a hit series with his new project called Baby Dolls.

Given the day, it seems only appropriate that we would pay respect to the most laid back, easy-going group of all: the stoners. April 20 is as close as we come to having a Nation Weed Smoking Day in this country, so what better way to celebrate here at BuddyTV than to reflect on our favorite pot-smoking television characters. Well, I imagine you could think of one or two better ways.
For this list, we've put together five of our favorite television characters with reefer madness. Sure, there are many characters who've experimented, such as Seth Cohen from The O.C. or Ross on Friends, but for this list, we wanted honest-to-God, red-blooded, bong lovers. And indeed, we've found characters who all have a need...a need for weed.

Wilmer Valderrama catapulted to stardom on That ‘70s Show as Fez, who was named by the writers of the series as an acronym for Foreign Exchange Student. As an immigrant, his distinct accent, as well as his ambiguous country of origin, was one of the longest running gags on the show. Though his raging hormones attracted him to various women, he was mainly infatuated with Jackie Burkhart (Mila Kunis), whom he worshiped like a queen. After all the barriers, heartaches and struggle, Jackie finally validated her feelings for him during the finale when she realized that he had all the qualities she's looking for in a man, sealing his painful longing for her with a kiss. Despite the end of the series, the 27-year-old comic remains to be an active actor with his voiceover works and upcoming movies.

Danny Masterson was best known as Steven Hyde on That ‘70s Show. His character had a signature wardrobe consisting of sunglasses and t-shirts with musicians on them such as Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones. He was the best friend of Eric Foreman (Topher Grace) and often spent time with Michael Kelso (Ashton Kutcher) and Fez (Wilmer Valderrama). As the rebel of the group, he was noted for his wiseacre jokes, conspiracy theories, radical antics and love for marijuana. These days, the 31-year-old actor is working on a comedy and a crime-drama movie.

Following his team up with Cheech Marin as a comedy duo, Tommy Chong became a recurring character on the sitcom That ‘70s Show. He played the character Leo Chingkwake for a total of 41 episodes and served as an iconic figure of the stoner culture of the ‘70s. As the hippie owner of the Foto Hut at which Steven Hyde worked, he frequently prioritized leisure over business. Possibly because of his drug use, he had poor memory, was often dazed and confused yet maintained an easy-going attitude in all things.

Kurtwood Smith was known as Reginald Albert “Red” Forman on the FOX sitcom That ‘70s Show. He portrayed the husband of Kitty and father to Laurie and Eric. More often than not, he favored Laurie, seeing her as "Daddy's Little Girl," over Eric, whom he considered wimpy and twitchy. Coming from a military background, he appeared tough and mostly kept his emotions bottled up. His hobbies included working with his power tools, drinking beer and watching television.

Topher Grace was popularly known as the lead actor on That '70s Show. As Eric Forman, he was the son of the devoted mother Kitty Forman, a strict, war-veteran father Red Forman, and younger brother to the promiscuous Laurie Forman. He was generally perceived as a nice guy, usually weak and cowardly. More often than not, his skinny frame had been the subject of many jokes by nearly all his friends and even his father. Apart from his misadventures with his friends, his relationship with his first love Donna Pinciotti was often the main focus of the series. He left Point Place to teach in Africa in the season seven finale since Grace had not renewed his contract with the show. He returned on May 18, 2006, during the series finale, which hinted his reconciliation with Donna.
