We‘ve had a few days now to discuss and digest the 2008 Emmy nominations.  Much vitriol has been spewed towards the always-wrong Emmy voters (by nature, they can never totally be “right”), and it mostly revolves around lack of respect for

There is a new category this year for the Prime Time Emmy Awards, and it has me quite excited.  Probably far more excited than I should be.  It is for the Best Reality Show Host.  The Emmy Nominations will be announced next Thursday morning, July 17, and while we have a fairly good idea who the contenders are for the major awards, thanks to leaked short lists that have hit the internet over the past couple of weeks, we have no idea who the contenders for Reality Host will be.  While the categories for Best Reality Show are split into Reality Show and Reality Show – Competition, the Host category is a veritable free-for-all.  If you host any sort of prime time reality series, you are eligible.  Since prognostication is part of the BuddyTV repertoire, we thought it‘d be nice to take a look at who likely will be nominated and who, in a perfect world, should be.

The 17th season of Survivor, Survivor: Gabon, is amping up to start filming in the west African nation in June, but CBS is already begun casting for Survivor 18, which is set to air beginning in January of 2009.  Open casting calls around the country began last weekend, and will continue for the next few weeks.  As they prepare for season 18 of the long-running reality series, CBS has made one major change to the application process: they‘ve lowered the age requirement from 21 to 18.  This is big news for 18, 19, and 20-year old Survivor fanatics around the country and a move by CBS that will, presumably, lead to a bigger talent pool for the network to work with and inject more youth into Survivor 18.
