While many of us were preparing for a long holiday weekend, the cast and crew of Supernatural were getting ready to go back to work. The gang reconvened in Vancouver, British Columbia on July 2 to begin filming the fourth season premiere of the CW series, entitled "Lazarus Rising." The network recently announced that the new season will kick off on Thursday, September 18, and now we have some interesting details regarding the plot of the premiere. There are some light spoilers ahead, so read on at your own risk.

It seems like every year we're forced to sit on the edge of our seats while we wait to find out if Supernatural will be renewed for another season. Though the CW drama has some of the most loyal fans of any show on television, the network often under promotes it and focuses more attention on shows like Gossip Girl and Smallville. However, Supernatural fans who are already worrying about the show's shot at a fifth season can breathe a little easier, because Variety is reporting that creator Eric Kripke has signed a new two-year pact with Warner Brothers TV. Though part of the deal is for Kripke to develop new projects, there's also a stipulation that he'll continue to executive produce and showrun Supernatural for two more seasons.

Rubela haters, your wishes have been granted. In the penultimate episode of Supernatural's third season, Bela (Lauren Cohan) was dragged off to Hell after revealing that she had sold her soul to evil demon leader Lilith. It was a brutal, shocking exit for a character that most fans weren't particularly fond of. Now, in a recent interview with TV Guide series creator Eric Kripke has revealed that viewers have also seen the last of Ruby (Katie Cassidy). While Kripke admitted that getting rid of Bela was a creative decision, it appears that Ruby's unceremonious exit is due to financial reasons.

When I become heavily invested in a television show, I rarely seek out the opinions of other fans online. If I'm truly enjoying a series I'd rather not hop on message boards and read the rants of other people. Despite my best efforts, sometimes I can't avoid it when a story line or character causes a giant tidal wave of Internet fan backlash. Some changes to a show are so controversial that it's impossible to drown out the cries of angry viewers.
One show that's had its fair share of heavily debated changes over the years is Supernatural. Fans are deeply passionate about the series, and often opposed to any plot twist that takes time away from the brotherly bond between the Winchesters. However, there's one thing in the world of Supernatural that creates more fan outrage than any plot twist ever could: the addition of potential love interests.

I tend to keep a realistic perspective when it comes to awards shows. For example, I don't expect movies like Iron Man or The Dark Knight to be nominated for Best Picture Oscars, nor am I shocked when shows like Supernatural are denied Emmys. After watching enough awards shows you begin to realize that the best things don't always get nominated, especially when it comes to genre entertainment.
Though I've come to understand how confusing and unreliable these shows are, I can still be shocked by certain exclusions. The nominees for the 2008 Teen Choice Awards came out today, and despite the fact that nearly every show on television was nominated for something, Supernatural was completely shut out. What's wrong with teens today?

There are four more episodes remaining in Supernatural's third season, and then fans will have to wait months before the series returns in the fall. Now, thanks to Creation Entertainment's "Salute to Supernatural" event that happened this past weekend, we have a few clues about what we can expect in season 4. Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and creator Eric Kripke appeared at the convention in Los Angeles to thank the fans, answer questions, and discuss what's coming up for the Winchesters in the future. Beware that there are some minor spoilers for the next season of Supernatural below.

Supernatural is one of the few shows on television that revolves almost completely around two characters. This is excellent for fans of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, as it guarantees the actors will get plenty of screen time in almost every episode of the series. However, because the show is so reliant on the chemistry between the leads, it can have a tough time introducing new characters to the mix. For every new character that is beloved by the fans, such as Ellen or Jo, there are those like Ruby (Katie Cassidy) and Bela that cause a major uproar.
TV Guide has recently announced that fans will be saying goodbye to one major character when Supernatural season 4 launches in the fall. Will the change have a negative affect on the show, or will it help make it better than ever?

As an avid fan of the Friday the 13th franchise, I was extremely excited when Supernatural's Jared Padalecki was cast as the lead in the upcoming remake. Unlike most teen slasher movies, which are notorious for having virginal females save the day, the Friday the 13th films have managed to give both sexes a shot at defeating the villain. If you're going to have a man face off with the unstoppable killing machine known as Jason Voorhees, who better than the guy who plays monster hunter Sam Winchester every week? It seems like a perfect bit of casting for what's shaping up to be a very promising remake.
