In what looks to be a response to ABC‘s police-themed series Castle and The Unusuals, NBC has its very own police drama set to replace long-running medical drama ER that will wrap up its 15th and final season on April 2.Southland, from ER and West Wing showrunner John Wells, is described as a “raw and authentic look” at the Los Angeles Police Department, focusing on the lives of not just the cops, but the criminals, victims, and their families as well.  ABC‘s The Unusuals, on the other hand, is set on the quirky homicide division of the New York Police Department. Read more »
After almost iconic medical drama ER wraps up its amazing 15-season run, NBC has come up with what looks to be a solid replacement.  Police drama Southland is from ER and West Wing show runner John Wells, after all, and describes the series as a “raw and authentic look” at the Los Angeles Police Department, with focus not just on the cops, but the criminals, victims, and their families as well.Southland follows rookie cop Ben Sherman, played by Ben McKenzie from The O.C., who’s being sort of mentored by John Cooper, played by Michael Cudlitz in terms of getting used to his new profession. Read more »
NBC unveiled their slate of programs for the 2009-2010 season this morning.  Six new pilots were picked up (two comedies, four dramas).  NBC failed to concoct an actual day-by-day schedule for the Fall - they are expected to release that schedule within a couple of weeks.  Not mentioned during NBC‘s announcement this morning were the likes of Chuck, Medium, My Name is Earl, Law & Order and Life.  Some of those series could get picked up for mid-season.  As of right now, the fall schedule looks filled to the brim, especially when you consider that Jay Leno‘s new show will be taking up five hours of prime-time per week.  For Chuck fans, the wait continues, although the forecast isn‘t terribly bright.  Shows picked up for next season include Parks and Recreation, Southland and Heroes.  NBC has also ordered six more episodes of Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday for the Fall.  Here‘s a rundown of the six new shows from NBC: Read more »
After just six episodes, it‘s rather surprising to find out that NBC‘s police drama Southland is already wrapping up its first season.  Not to worry though; the network is bringing it back Fridays at 9pm for its 2009-2010 schedule.  For now, let‘s be content with the latest episode "Derailed."Tonight will be the season finale of the series, which promises to have quite a cliffhanger.  It‘s sure to draw in fans for the second season of the show chronicling the lives of these LAPD officers. Read more »
After its initial announcement last month about the shows it would pick up, today NBC revealed its official 2009-2010 schedule and also made several official cancellations.My Name is Earl and Medium are both gone, though there are possibilities that both shows could be picked up by rival networks.  For My Name is Earl, it‘s especially difficult since the season ended with a cliffhanger.More Fall Lineups:FOXABCNBCCBSThe CW Read more »
NBC has already announced the premiere dates for its fall shows, kicking off the highly anticipated, The Jay Leno Show, on Monday, September 14 at 10pm---a week before the official start of the 2009-10 TV season. The Biggest Loser will also get an early start this fall as it kicks off the news season with a two-hour episode on Tuesday, September 15.  Read more »
